What to give doctor and staff for Christmas?
My oncologist and her staff at the county hospital are GREAT! They are so friendly and caring--I look forward to every visit. Any ideas what I could/should give them for Christmas? -- Bruce

First meeting with urlogist
I had my first meeting with the urlogist on Wednesday (7th Dec.) I'll be getting a bone scan and a 'telescope' inserted to check my ureter and another meeting with the urologist in about a month. That's when the big decisions are made, I guess. Though I also guess that the big decisions are made for me, more or less. The…

My first NED
I just wanted to share that my first set of scans turned out to be uneventful (my doctor called them pretty boring:). I'll take boring over anything else! They classify me as low risk so they are moving scans to every 6 months for the next three years. Thanks for your continued support. Blessings Stub

CT scan and CABO
After along and disturbing conversation about the cancer and what it is doing to me last week and what would happen if I went off of chemo (the chemo has been making me very sick) we finally got some good news today. The chemo that is making me sick is working my latest CT scan shows all tumors in my lungs, lymph nodes,…

Cabo?
No one talks about cabo or cometriq. Not recently anyway. It is promising when many other kidney cancer drugs have failed. With it comes the SE's of diarrhea, etc. The bigger question is why would I be asking?

Complex Renal Cyst...Questions
I had a CT w/ contrast preformed about six months ago, which showed what they called a complex renal cyst in the upper portion of what remains of my left kidney. It showed several septations and calcifications, and measured around 4.6 cm. I got a call from the nurse, following the CT, stating that my urologist wanted to…

Bleeding Update
My Onc/Med team have decided to take me off of the Cabo for a couple of weeks, in part because I have oral surgery on Tuesday, and because they are concerned with all of the bleeding. I have been very ill since switching to Cabo even more so then when I was on Votrient. I have been considering discontinuing all chemo and…

1st Follow up scan
Finally, I have completed my first Ultrasound scan and chest X-Ray (no blood work for some reason...). Can't believe it has been three months already. I finally understand what is scanxiety when the radiologist starts making measurement of my kidney and from different angles. I keep wondering what he was measuring and what…

Pain
I was just wondering if you all still get pain on occasion? Nothing major but little pinches and stabs briefly here and there? I am ten months out from partial nephrectomy. I just had my CT and got the all clear a little over a month ago.

Urine, Faeces, blood and embarassment
Please dont apologize for talking about such things. Often this is the only place we can. We've all been through it. Waking up and peeing blood. Sitting in a room with everything covered in our own faeces. Many of us have been through it and all of us understand. This is a horrible disease. We have all had a taste of its…

Collecting Duct Carcinoma
Hi there. I wish I had properly learned how to use this network when my husband was sick. He was diagnosed with kidney cancer in April 2015. Stage IV. It was very, very bad. After his nephrectomy he was told "Oops. We were wrong. Its not kidney cancer, its actually Collecting Duct Carcinoma, which is worse." At that moment…

CDC-Collecting Duct Carcinoma - HLRCC
I have a 26-year-old son that was diagnosed with CDC this past April. Looking back at some of the symptoms my son has had, chances are very good that he had this cancer in January of this year. Is been on chemotherapy for almost 5 months given to them every Friday three different types of chemo. He has had radiation…

New Here...Kind of...
Hello, I would like to say "thank you" to everyone on this forum for helping me through my cancer diagnoses and incisional hernia repair. I have been reading this forum since August 2015 when I was incidentally diagnosed with 9.5 cm tumor on my left kidney at the age of 45. I had a partial left neph on September 22, 2015…

Distractions...
Fortunately, I am a -- "SQUIRREL!" -- easily distracted sort, on a good day. Add a kidney mass, seven months, and -- well, I'm sure you get the idea, both from personal experience and from watching me run to and fro, wanting to know, "Are you SURE it was a squirrel?!" and "Where? WHERE?!" So, I have been distracting myself…

Thankful
Today my country is celebrating Thanksgiving. Today, among all of the usual things I am thankful for are all of you. Your messages, even though I didn't post until afterwards, were one of the biggest things that helped me maintain some sense of calm through my surgery in February. I'm thankful, as of now and hopefully…

Small Kidney Tumor
I am a retired firefighter and because firefighters have a 2 to 3 times higher chance of being diagnosed with cancer I insisted on a chest scan with my GP. The chest came back good, thankfully. They barely caught part of my kidney on the CT images and noted that a closer look at the kidneys needed to be done. Did a full…

1st scans
Most of you have been through this, but for some this is new. In less than a week I will have my first set of scans. Blood work, abdominal, and chest CT are scheduled in the morning and a meeting with my doctor in the early afternoon. The intitial shock of my cancer diagnosis is fresh in my memory and still brings a shiver…

A decision to make re Stage 4 Treatment
Hi All, I'll preface this by saying I'm based in Sydney, Australia. My father was diagnosed with Stage 4 RCC in December 2014. We've been on a roller coaster ride since then! He had surgery just before Christmas to remove his right kidney. The surgery itself was a success - the tumour itself was very large (I don't have…

the fly in the opdivo ointment

Always superstitious about scans....surprised me...
Had my scans on election day. I am a bit superstitious about the scans (and only the scans). Fortunately, Uncle Ned was re-elected.

Rbc in urine...
Good morning friends! so I had stage 1 kidney cancer and had surgery July 1. Doc said they got it all, it was like 2.7. I have felt great since then. The last couple of days I have felt kind of run down, stomach hurting and back hurting. I was scheduled for blood work friday and all was good except my urinalysis. Shows…

Imaging followups...how often?
I've been reading this forum for awhile but this is my first post. It seems like everyone here (who is a RCC survivor) is having CT-Scans no less frequent than annually. The first 3 years after my RCC diagnosis and total nephectomy I've had CT-scan and chest x-rays annually. But upon the 3rd year my urologist said come…

Scan results are in
Atrophic Pancreas might be a good name for a band, but not, I think a reassuring description of an organ in ones body. The Abscopal Effect (another great band name,), which should have left my body cancer free, hasn’t. My main met, ‘Luke’ (Offspring of my original 10cm Tumour, Darth) has reduced in size from 6.5 to 5.1cm.…
