Needle Biopsy results in
Well, after finding evidence of "possible metastatic disease" on a routine MRI and then "multiple bone lesions consistent with metastatic disease" on a MRI Thoracic Spine Scan, and "findings concerning metastatic bone disease" by a Bone Scan, today I got back the results of the Needle Biopsy which show "no malignancy…

Feeling grateful
All week so far. Huge improvement for me, as I was so unhappy and feeling so much anger and self pity before. Anyway, today I am extremely grateful for the insurance plan my company provides my family. When we were on hubby's insurance, our deductible was 10,000 per person and then 10,000 co-insurance! And it cost us a…

Recovering from the surgery!
Hello everyone. I'm new here, so please be patient with me as I learn how to navigate around a site that is is new and unfamiliar. I had an open flank surgery for kidney cancer a year ago -- and while the surgery is/was considered a "big success" -- recovering from such an invasive procedure has been a nightmare. Last…

Surgery and Subcutaneous Nodules
Surgery and Subcutaneous Nodules Unfortunately my Kidney Cancer continues to spread regardless to what I do. The good part, if it is good, with the exception of the subcutaneous nodules, it is not spreading fast. My question is has anyone been diagnosed with subcutaneous nodules that needed to be surgically removed. I have…

17 days post sugery
And I guess I am getting my sense of humor back!! I was discussing my hospital stay with my sister and husband and although I vaguely remember, I had totally forgotten. Apparently after surgery I was asking every doctor, nurse, maid and food service employee that walked into my room to, "PLEASE euthanize me, put me out of…

Update on John
From 12/28: On 12/23 he had a new set of CT scans and then met with his ONC on Christmas Eve. After six or so infusions of Opdivo the news wasn't what we had hoped for. There are new lymph node mets in the paratracheal area and in the mid-chest near the aorta. Apparently this is a fairly common met site for RCC. Also the…

My husband was diagnosed this morning
my husband was just diagnosed this morning and I'm a mess. The mass is on his fight kidney and is 9 cm. We now have to wait until Tuesday to speak with a specialist. Super scared. He's 41 and is typically super healthy. I'm not sure what to expect and go through moments of crying and then back to diligently searching for…

We will keep a close eye on it. My first scan will be next month followed by another in 4 months then go to 6 months. There is a 50/50…

Son-in-law with sRCC
Hello everyone: I thought I'd join the forum on behalf of my son-in-law who just had a total nephrectomy about two weeks ago to remove a 13 cm tumor that had taken his left kidney. It seemed to the surgeon to be fully contained with no evidence of mets to nearby lymph nodes. The pathology is T2b, N0, M0, grade 4, with 60%…

My husbands story
My husband ended up in ER to ensure the pain that he was having was indeed gastritis. It was in fact gastritis but when they did the CT scan they found a small tumor on his kidney. We did not do a biopsy because they are only 80% accurate. We elected to have a partial nephrectomy. Surgeon made it sound simple cut it out…

Hello - My husband noticed urine in his blood last week. He saw his primary care doctor this week, who prescribed him antibiotics and advised him to get a CT Scan. He had the CT Scan today @ 1:30. At 2:20, the doctor called to say he had kidney cancer. The technician saw a large mass on his kidney and let the doctor know…

Laughter the best medicine
Hi Everyone, I just wanted to share a book that has helped me tremendously through this cancer journey...it is called "Cancer on 5 $ a Day" by Robert Schimmel. He is a comedian and he fought lymphoma stage 3 I believe. Warning or trigger alert, he is a very "blue" comedian so be ready for lots of sex jokes and some…

I'd Like to Give a Big Shout Out to Everyone and Say THANK YOU!
A couple of days ago when I wrote my first post, I was terrified by this barrage of information I was receiving from my doctors about my newly mestastized Kidney Cancer, at least that's how it seemed to me. I really didn't have anyone else to talk to - my friends aren't good at handling bad news, and I'm not that close…
