Laughter the best medicine
Hi Everyone, I just wanted to share a book that has helped me tremendously through this cancer journey...it is called "Cancer on 5 $ a Day" by Robert Schimmel. He is a comedian and he fought lymphoma stage 3 I believe. Warning or trigger alert, he is a very "blue" comedian so be ready for lots of sex jokes and some language. Even with all of that it is very funny and touching and I have found humor to be one of the best tools to help me through this. God bless y'all.

folk artist
John Hartford was a singer, song writer, (Gentle on my mind), fiddle, guitar player etc. During his final days of touring he would talk about his terminal cancer. He had said that his doctor wanted his bill paid in full just after telling John that he had only 6 months to live. John told him that he didn't have that much money. So John tells of how his doctor gave him another 6 months so he could come up with the cash. Now that there is funny!

John Hartford was definitely a favorite singer of mine. I even have a book of his poetry. My two favorite very short poems of his on album notes but not in the book were one about him buying a hugely expensive sound system so he could record his songs and play them back for the dog. The other was "Woman don't fall apart on me now...'cause there ain't a franchized dealer for miles."

"Remove with Alcohol"
The sticky tape gizmo that had my catheter hose connector piece stuck on my leg said, "Remove with Alcohol." The nurse was having a heck of a time getting it off. "Are you sure you're supposed to be scrubbing at that thing with alcohol? Maybe it just comes off easier if we've each had a glass of wine." She cracked up, said nobody had thought of that before. Seriously? Well, it's nice to have a chuckle (and a fan).

A: I'm here for mass.
