Decisions to make
I saw oncologist this afternoon and everything is still great. Labs are normal. He is leaving the decision up to me as to if I want to stop the votrient. I have been on it 2 1/2 years and scans have been clear since December 2011 with exception of a couple of very small nodules in my lungs that are being read by…

So far so good on Torisel...
I haven't posted in a while so I thought I would share my progress - A little background - I was diagnosed in January 2012 - I had a 14.5cm tumor in my left kidney. It was removed and found to be chromophobe RCC. At my 6 month post surgery scan nodules on my thyroid were found - thyroid cancer - unrelated, thyroid removed…

Got my pathology report!!!
Went in today to get my drain removed and my pathology report had just come through. Clear cell RCC PT1a, pNX, grade two I freaked out for a second before the doc had a chance to explain the report because it said I had a positive margin on the renal capsule. Apparently, my tumor was poking out of the side of my kidney, so…

I could use some anti anxiety help, it's scan time
Hi! I'm Britt, I am 27 and was diagnosed with Rcc a year and a half ago, since then everytime I've gone for a scan my anxiety level has increased. So far they've been Ok (knock on wood). Today though just the thought of scheduling the CT almost brought me to tears. The tumor was very small... Maybe 2-3 cm, hadn't moved…

Can't get comfortable at night
Anyone else have a hard time getting comfortable in bed at night? My back hurts no matter how I try to lay. Heck, I even dream about not being able to get comfortable and then wake up with more back pain. It's not a pain like something wrong but like when you hurt your back lifting something. Thanks Cindy

I'm back, surgery a success
Had surgery last Monday, came home on Wednesday. Funny but the pain and tugging was not where any of the incisions were so I asked for a binder that really helped. In the 1980's Alabama was my farvoite band so when I heard they were doing a concert at SeaWorld on Sunday I became determined to make it there and I did. I…

This poor kid beat kidney cancer 4 times and now is dying because a drug company won't give him a dr
This is crazy. You have to read this story to understand. A fellow kidney cancer patient has beated this disease 4 times and is clear of cancer but has a blood infection that a drug will fix but is not being given by the company because it is not approved by the FDA and they say they have "no money" yet the government just…

Not out of the woods
Hi Everyone, I had my post op appointment today and I found out my tumor was an Angiomyolipoma. They told me that on the phone but all I heard was benign. Now that they know what it was they want to follow the cyst or tumor in my other kidney because these Angiomyolipomas can grow fast, impair kidney function, and can…

The lessons we learn....
In response to Fox's post about putting some thoughts out there.... I'll post a few topics that have been on my mind. This post is an open question to the forum of lessons learned or gifts received as a by product of the RCC journey. _____________________________________________________ For me, I've come to realize every…

Numero Uno Scan post Operative.
So tomorrow I go in for my first post operative scan. Barium sulfate cocktail at 10 pm followed by another in the morning. Chest and abdomen. Now the concerning part besides the obvious is that this appointment had been set up since November. I returned from a business trip this week, and I had not heard anything about…

I got my pathology report, not too bad
Only way it could have been better is if the tumor was benign, alas it wasn't. Final determination was RCC clear cell pT1aNxMx, G2. So not all that bad, pathologist did comment that the tumor came within 0.1 mm of parenchymal margins in several foci. Guess that means the doc cut it real close huh? So now all that they want…

Social Security disability
There has been limited discussion about this in the past. I know Iceman has a different take on this. But,... I want to make sure that people know that kidney cancer is considered a disability. As such, you can get monthly income which is at a higher rate than just social security normal payments. (it is for me anyway.)…

It wasn't Cancer
I wanted to share this to try and relate this perspective.. At one time or another (or constantly) we all fear the worst and that the Cancer will do us in. Sadly that happens.. but I just got an e-mail from a pal's wife... Yup my pal passed away yesterday... geeesh. He did not have Cancer... In fact I had recently talked…

Tests lead to more tests
The good news is that I'm still here and it's been nealy 8 years since the first Dx. But if you've been around after a Dx of Stage IV RCC, you know there are lots of tests done to reach this point. In mid-January, I had a regular (3 and/or) 6 month CT; but an 8x12mm polyp was found in my stomach. This led to my PC…

Hi this is my first post here so I`'ll give my history first. Diagnosed in June 2013 with probable rcc in left kidney 7cm and possible node involvement. Radical nephrectomy in Aug. Surgeon did not remove any nodes or adrenal gland. Tumor was contained and shrunk to 6 cm after surgery. T1bnxmx. I 've had a good recovery and…

Just more bad news!
I have to go for fresh scans and a round of testing over the next few weeks. After suffering from an incessant cough for over a week I was sent for an X-ray. The result of which shows a new mass in my left lung. I was devasted, I am at a loss, I really don't understand how these growths are manifesting at such speed. From…

Blkjak update
Hi everyone! I hope you are all doing well! We think about all of you a lot, but took a bit of a break from the forum. I think I last updated after the doctors tried treating for testicular cancer and it didn't work. Blkjak remains a bit of a mystery since his kidney tumor is so small yet has spread so much. They then…
