Worst day yet. Nausea so bad all I could get down was a bowl of chicken noodle soup. My family doctor's office called today to see how I was doing. I told the nurse that I had horrible nausea and could not eat. She offered to call in a script for nausea but I told her I had an appointment with the Oncologist today and that…

Though I am still dealing with mucositis and thick mucus in my throat I've noticed that my dry mouth has gotten worse. My tongue is so dry and my mouth will stick because of the dryness. I tried biotene but that only helps a tiny bit for less than an hour. I try to sip water but with my excess mucus still causes me to gag.…

I get my treatment plan next week, based off my recent CAT and PET Scans and HPV testing of needle biopsied material (SCC Base of the tongue with swollen nodes - no surgery at this point) I assume my treatment will start about two to three weeks from today. I've already been told it will be a combination of radiation and…

Organic Diet Benefits
Today I had my weekly visit with my Rad Oncologist and always enjoy our talks. He is very smart and is extremely well read. IMO anyway. I asked him about Zinc to help with my taste buds after treatment. (only 3 left out of 30) He said he really didn't know about it and doesn't hold vitamins in high regard as there isn't…

Need nausea med that does not cause constipation
Looking for a recommendation for a nausea med that would not cause constipation. Just finished my first week of radiation and have had nausea since day one but it is getting worse and lasts all the time. I see doctor Monday but don't think he will be helpful. He says it is not from the radiation. Trust me, it is.

Time from Diagnosis to Treatment
Wondering what timeline most people experienced from the point they knew they had cancer until treatment started. My ENT did a needle biopsy of my enlarged neck node on June 19, 2017. The biopsy came back postiive for SCC at the base of my tongue the next day. He referred me to the Stephenson Cancer Center the next morning…

Cancer free
but PET scan for NED is not going to happen anytime soon. On Monday I visited my oncologist who after physical and observation said that she could not detect any evidence of the tumour in my throat or in my lymph nodes. This is of course great news but I felt a little dejected that the PET scan has been put off until later…

I have so many thoughts and feelings at this point. My husband was diagnosed in 2015 and completed the chemo and radiation with great results and was in remission for about a year and a half.
