"TPF" chemo on advanced throat cancer???
My father was recently diagnosed with a stage IV squamous cell tumor which originated in the larynx. SURVIVOR & EXERCISE
April 2003 will mark two years post treatment for me and I remain cancer free. I'd like to talk to anyone who's had successful treatments for throat cancer and still exercises. I'm terrified when I get short of breath and I'm also afraid that I will not recuperate from pain; that I will end up back in bed instead of…

Symptom question
For a couple of months now, I've had a kind of ache in the chest that is sometimes accompanied by a burning in the throat. This sometimes last all day, and is not necessarily after eating something I'd expect to cause heartburn. I'm already taking Protonix, a proton pump inhibitor, for a possible stomach ulcer. Could the…

I completed radiation and chemo treatment the end of Jan. My doctor says I should try to eat. I have been trying, but unless it is very liquid I have a lot of trouble getting it down. I am still having some pain in my throat. Could that be the reason? I tend to think it is because I have no saliva. Will I get better? Is…

I had a barium swallow test a couple weeks ago. The test indicated a small constriction halfway down my esophagus. The swallow therapist recommended my esophagus be dilated to correct this constriction which she says was most likely caused by radiation therapy. Has anyone experienced this procedure? Jeff

Amifostene (ethyol) use in radiation therapy
Hello, I'm trying to collect information on amifostene (ethyol) use during radiation. I will be starting radiation next week, and my doctor does not want to administer the amifostene injections because "there is evidence that it may protect the cancer cells as well as the saliva glands". Sinus Cancer
Is this as unusual as I'm being told by my physicians? I've never smoked a cigarette ever and I'm a very occasional social drinker. My surgery was completed on March 13, 2002 and after a couple of weeks I returned for 6 weeks of radiation treatment which ended June 21st. I'm getting used to the new "hole in my head"…
