Has anyone used Salagen for dry mouth? Did it help in any way to relieve the dryness? I just started this med and was wondering if anyone used it before. Have a great holiday (even thou it's raining this entire weekend in NJ).

Hi Marilyn, I finished my treatment for neck cancer in April 02. I was given a shot of Ethyol 30 mins before each radiation treatment. The Ethyol is supposed to protect the salavery glands while giving no protection to the tumor. I'm eating everything I want and the problem is with breads, cookies, and dry stuff that i have a problem getting it down without the help of water. They (med.staff) tell me that in about a year I should be getting my saliva back. I hear Salagen is supposed to work. Try 2 tablets a day and see is that works for you. One things for sure...it only gets better every day. Lots of luck...Peter

Marilyn, I was on Salagen for over a year and then started having terrible stomach pain. I quit the Salagen a year ago April and have not had any problem since. Others have also told me that Salagen caused them problems. I was taking 3 a day.

    Hi Marilyn,
I have used Salagen on and off since I finished treatment Dec 2000. It helps me a little but my water bottle is still a companion 24 hours a day.

I took it for 3 months. I didn't have much luck with it. Sorry.
