Are you different now?
Maybe a weird/dumb question, but I want to know how many of you feel like you have survived treatment and now truly feel like a different person than you were before? I'm not talking about the physical stuff, that's obvious. And I don't really mean, "I am just thankful to be alive," either. I mean thinks like how you view…

Hi all: Basketcase checking in here. Yesterday, the 8th was a year ago when we found out how bad Charlie's cancer was when it returned. However, I had quite a busy day. My friend's husband came over and finished the things my brother was going to do around the house when his tragedy struck in Oct. So, now I do have a new…

He's not one of us, but thought you might be interested in my Cousin's story. About my age (56), he was a heavy drinker and smoker. Couple years ago developed problems swallowing. Dr. kept telling him it was acid reflux, until last fall, when a tumor was found. Getting the correct info from him has been difficult, but it…

Been awhile - I've been bad
"Bad" in that I haven't kept up with my CSN friends. Sorry about that. I've actually been pretty good. December CT/PET showed my NED and my follow up CT in June was still clean. I was suffering from L'Hermittes - but my chiropractice rehab work has all but cured that. I only feel it when I run. I was suffering from some…

Half way done: week four is almost over.
Hello all, I am half way done, although the hard part as most of you veterans know is just starting. My RADONC said it best yesterday "the honeymoon is over, it gets tough from here on". He is right. My throat is very painful, swallowing is tough and talking above a raspy whisper takes effort. Feeding tube is coming, the…

Back to work
I went back to work last week. Guided hikes and mindful walks in the Palm Springs area all last week. Some at 10,00 feet and some in the valley in 115 degree heat. It felt so good to be back helping people get outdoors. First time working in over a year. 6 months post treatment was Tuesday. The body does heal.I'm back. Bob

Hi Folks, I did read through the super thread and have tried to garner as many tips as possible, but I still feel I need some guidance. I finished radiation on May 25. I have a button feeding tube in place. It's a pain for me, as the tubing is too small and leaks gastric juices. I have to use a combo of Marathon skin…

breaking the gloom
How do you guys handle these situations? You know when an aquaintance comes to you and asks in a timid fashion ...How are you? Almost like they are scared of the response that your gonna give them. I keep trying to come up with a humorous way to respond to these nice folks who are genuinely concerned about you but dont…
