a funny one

tonight i went to the kitchen to get myself a snack (i am still 40 pounds under my starting weight). The wife looks over my shoulder and tells me that there arent any snacks because she hasn't had the time to do the grocery shopping. So she suggests a can of peaches. I think okay, i know that peaches taste okay now because i had some earlier in the week. So i open the can and grab a fork and dig in. But now peaches taste awful again. So.... I go "here sweety, taste these peaches" and hand her the fork. She is so used to giving me her opinion since my taste buds went nuts, that she just took the fork and got a big mouth full of peaches , and then covered her mouth and ran for the sink and was about to toss her cookies, until she unloaded the peaches into the disposall.
I couldn't help but laugh. She looked up at me and glared, and all i could think of to say was i didn't know that they were bad, but if it make you feel any better i swallowed mine. lol she was still gagging but she laughed too. She asked if thats what peaches tasted like to me now, and i told her no but they had tasted like that for a while, but had begun tasting more like they were supposed to, and thats what had me so confused.
And i had never heard of peaches going bad in the can like that. Maybe it is enough to know that stuff tastes bad and just toss it now.... And maybe i don't really need to know if it has gone bad.... just sayin......

    Hmmm
Never thought of it that way - there's no telling how much rancid stuff we may have eaten. Feel kinda sorry for wifey (while I'm laughing at her misfortune).

    LOL
My wife was always my taste tester also.....

I agree, I don't know how much bad stuff I've eaten because of the taste being off.

Glad I have a strong stomach, most people that haven't been through what we have would probably hurl with some of the stuff that I've eaten not knowing the condition of it for sure, LOL.

lack of taste for me so I smell everything before inserting it into the pie hole. if I have doubt I pitch it out. you might want to try that route.

That is like the day when, I
That is like the day when, I thought my food tasted like paper (instead of the usual cardboard) and looked down to find I was eating the paper straw wrapper!

Years in food service have made me paranoid about foodpoisoning.
I suppose that comes with being responsible for serving sometimes up to 1,000 people a day.

I always thoroughly smell everything before I eat it. My family thinks I am nuts. I tend to be the food safety Nazi and if something is even iffy, I don't try. My grandmother on the other hand, grows science experiements in her fridge. I have to keep her from food poisoning herself on a weekly basis. :-/

That is strange about the peaches. Was there a dent in the can, or any bulges or distended ends to the can? If there wasn't, then maybe something went wrong in the canning process. I would call the company and give them the info, if there was no visable signs of damage to the can.

    Hi Tony

That is a good one, I need to get my wife to read it as she is always saying just eat it.
