Good news--touching base
Hi friends: I have been off the board for a few months, but thought I would visit with some good news. For those of you who do not know me, I had a colectomy in March 2017, 3b, and tried chemo, rejected oxilaplatin after one treatment, but did capecitabine (Xeloda) until it caused heart-attack like symptoms. I had a CT…

Good news - colonoscopy results
Yesterday I had my one-year post-op colonoscopy. (I had cancer of the rectum diagnosed Dec 2002. Chemoradiation followed by surgery in April 2003, then postsurgical radiation). I got the results immediately - ALL CLEAR!! Yeah! Hoorah! As some of you know, I believe in celebrating every bit of good news - hope you don't…

Black Stool
I had a positive cologuard test almost 2 weeks ago. I'm still waiting for my colonoscopy. Here's my issue. Over the past 4 days my stool has gone from brown to solid black. I have looked everywhere for what that means and can't find anything except Black Tarry stool, like tar. I am not having that and cannot find any…

Follow up appointment more confusing than anything
originally she told us 4 treatments, scan, surgery, the rest of treatments. Then it became 6 treatments, scan, surgery, the remaining 6. Now it's well it shrunk so much let's do 4 more treatments scan again, then consider surgery, but maybe finish all 12 treatments surgery, then done. Can I say how much not having an exact…

Tastes Change
I was in the hospital for 19 days while they cleared my abscess, found the tumor, removed the tumor. Most of the time I was nothing by mouth, with a couple of clear liquids only days. I have not had the desire for sweets or been able to eat sweets since. I tried an oreo when I came out of sedation for my chemo port, and it…

Results and a blood clot
i only have the results because they called about the blood clot. I guess he has a clot in the catheter? I am guessing port, since thats the only thing he has in his body? Has anyone ever had this? His tumor shrank from 3.8 to 2.5 cm so now we see if he can have surgery. I will know more in the morning, blood thinners…

White blood count way down
I am ge my second round of chemo. My white blo count dropped again. Today it was at .660. They are going to see if insurance will approve Neulast. Anyone else have this happen. They said, if it goes to .5 or below I could win a hospital stay.

Scan today results tomorrow
I was not overly worried until his latest CEA result came into his chart. He started chemo at 14.7, one month in was 8.2 and today one month later is 8.7. I know .5 is not horrible I know this in my rational thinking mind, but in my crazy go off the rails with worry wife mode I am certain the scan will show no change and…

Another good report
Did a colonoscopy yesterday. First one where they used a drug where I remained awake. I was awear of what was being done but simply didn’t care. The sedation was interesting to note, but especially noteworthy is that the colonoscopy was all clear. And the surgeon said my next colonoscopy can be in five years. That would be…

Not diagnosed but worried
I am new to this forum and have not been diagnosed with cancer, but am very concerned with my current symptoms: I have been having some pretty significant gastro problems for several months, and have also had a tubular adenoma removed from my colon two years ago. My GI refuses to do another colonoscopy stating "standards…

Diet Coke
I noticed another person on this forum wondering if diet coke contributed to her husband's cancer. I am curious to see how many cancer patients on here drink diet coke or another drink with aspertame. When I was originally diagnosed in 2006 I was an avid diet coke drinker (many per day). Shortly after my original…

Anyone that had Oxaliplatin that didn't have Neuropathy or had a mild case?
There's a thread with it being a problem and I was wondering if there are people that went through it that had no or minimal symptoms with neuropathy. Going to see the oncologist in about 30 minutes to get set up.

Eyelids Twitching
After receiving my 5th IV drip treatment (Oxaliplatin) the day after Thanksgiving, I noticed neuropathy got to my eye lids. When I left the clinic and as soon as exposed to the cold air, my eyelids twitched and fluttered. My eyes started to close and I couldn't see. It lasted about few seconds then went away. It went on…

My husband has a cold
he just had chemo Thursday- Saturday. His WBC count was good at about 7.2 his platelets were on the low end at 145 not sure if that matters. Is it dangerous for him to have this cold? other than he is being very dramatic and I could be what is dangerous for him. Honestly I am not sure what to do here, no fever, just a bad…

First day Chemo Radiation - Could feel in treatment and now feel burn
I thought it was all in my head. I tried to think it was in my head, I really did. But it wasn't. I could feel the beam on my skin during treatment. When I walked to the changing room, I felt a sunburn. When I looked at my **** in the mirror it was terribly red and creased looking. The redness went away, but the burn is…

Hunkered Down
I have been amiss in posting. I indicated that I would let others know how my chemo was progressing, but to be honest it is kicking my butt - at least for the 3-4 days after my infusion stops, which is were I am this morning. This is my second cycle. I have been maintaining a daily log of temp, weight and general feelings.…

I'm good for another three months - EDIT
Went to the big city to see my Oncologist yesterday. CEA 0.5 and all other bloods looking normal. I was really tempted to just call him and skip the office visit. (NOT 600 miles) 330 miles (nit!) is a long way to go for a five minute visit; but I do like to see him and hear it from 'the horses mouth'. So, happy holidays…

So tired after first infusion
Is it normal to be so tired. I am still recovering from my bowel surgery too. The first few days during the infusion at hospital and take home infusion, I seemed to have energy. I attributed this to the iron drip I got before treatment. But after, and continuing through the second week, I have about 3 hours a day that I…

My oncologist jump started my morning
I didn't sleep well so I was still snoozing when he called promptly at 8am. He never calls in the morning, let alone first thing. I've been seeing him for almost nine years and he still doesn't know my voice, so he asks "is David there, I need to discuss his test results with him?" This is my first CT scan at a one year…

9 years ago today my colonoscopy revealed there was a mass in my rectum. They wouldn't tell me it looked bad, they just said there was a biopsy and that further testing was needed. The next day (Thanksgiving) was the worst day of my life. We had all 8 kids and all our grandchildren over for dinner and no one knew of my…
