Abdominal Metastasis and had Cytoreductive Surgery with HIPEC? AKA "The Sugarbaker Method"
HI All, I haven't posted in a while and I am doing well. I had Cytoreductive Surgery with HIPEC in December '08. I just had another clean scan. Woohoo! Three more months of living and loving my family. Now I am trying to help a couple of other ladies do the same. If you have had this surgery and you live in Canada please…

And it's back...
New, related tumor. Found in my scans this week. No treatment at this time - watch and wait, hopefully for a very long time. We now assume lots of new tumors will be sprouting from the way my cancer seeded in my abdomen. *Profanities*

5th round on the 21st.
so I have my 5th round of chemo on the 21st. I am so fatigued now. What will it be like after the 5th. Does I.t. just get harder? After round 4 I just slept most of the time for 4-5 days. Does the chemo dose go up each time? Brain fog gets really bad when I am fatigued. I am on the normal Folfox treatment plan. Any help is…

HIPEC/IntraPeritoneal Chemo/EPIC
I see that BonnieDewey has been asking about HIPEC on some old threads. I thought I'd start a new on. Bonnie - this is for you. While I did not have HIPEC, I had EPIC, another form of Intraperitoneal Chemo that was given post-op, and not heated (at Sloan Kettering in NYC, which is what they prefer to HIPEC. Both treatments…

Doc Won’t Allow Chiropractic Care/Horrible Pain
Any advice is appreciated...I’m NED, Stage 4. About 15 surgeries total. I have an ostom, a port, and only 1 lung. People with ostomy‘s, ports, and those who have had back surgery are all allowed to be seen by chiropractors. I had a thoracotomy 1.2 years ago and am in constan, unbelievable pain. I’m fairly certain my…

Why do you change Ileostomy bags when you do?
There was a discussion on another board about when people change their bags and I was a bit surprised as a few people mentioned that they change them daily or every other day. Some here mentioned three days and I have been going with five days. The reason I change it at five days is that the bag loses its shape and becomes…

Advice on food ideas for husband please!
I am struggling with what to do for nutrition for my husband. I normally cook pretty regularly as we are a family of 5. My dh just had his second FOLFOX with Avastin added today. Since his last treatment he has lost 4lbs. Might not seem like much, but he is already very skinny. He's down to 159lbs and is 6ft tall. He is…

82 condolences, so far
My friend of 35 years has just passed away. He too had CRC. The family have just posted the announement of his death on Facebook and he has 82 wonderful replies do far, saying what a wonderful man he was, and that is tremendous. It did make me wonder though, why can't we, as a people, get into the habit of telling our…

Anxiety around liver resection
Is it normal to worry about what if my lesions on liver don't shrink enough to remove, the surgery itself, the recovery time, the hospital stay (was in the hospital for 19 days for diagnosis, colon resection, and recovery), how my cats will worry, what I can do to get my body ready, etc? My surgeon is confident. My…

neuropathy getting worse
My husband finished his last oxaliplatin treatment in September. During treatment his neuropathy would almost be gone by the next treatment but now he feels his neuropathy is worse than even during treatment. I know oxaliplatin has lingering effects but curious if it got worse for others too. Also wondering if it is due to…

Adoptive Cell Therapy at NCI
This is a variant of the Tumor Infiltrating Lymphocytes Clinical Trial at NCI that I've been talking about recently. The earlier trials are for those with KRAS G12D (with alleles HLA-A*1101 or HLA-C*0802) or G12V (with allele HLA-A*1101). The Adoptive Cell Trial is for more general mutations. I suspect that they are…

Scan Results On It Is Back - Growing and Spreading
Lymph nodes increasing in size and starting to pop up in other places throughout the lung. Guessing no chemo yet (meet with Oncologist next week), thinking I go another scan or two before that happens. Yippee.

Advice to self of yesteryears!
I was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer in April 2012. If the person I am now could speak to who I was then, what would I say? It is an interesting question to contemplate. What advice could I give to me, to help make coping easier? What wisdom could I share that would guide and comfort me through the tougher days? When…

port issues
I was never a fan of getting a port and I have one. Lately when I go they have trouble getting to draw blood from it and I don't want chemo done in my viens by iv. Is this something that is common? I am told is does happen, but there really is nothing I can do to prevent it. I just like to know if others have it happen to…

Restaged to stage 4
I posted several days ago asking about when a PET scan could be wrong. I guess I was hoping that it was and wasn't too excited about my husband having a liver biopsy. Well, we did do the biopsy and it was cancer. So the doctor restaged him to stage 4. He had CT scan and MRI at the end of Septmember before his colon…

Good news--touching base
Hi friends: I have been off the board for a few months, but thought I would visit with some good news. For those of you who do not know me, I had a colectomy in March 2017, 3b, and tried chemo, rejected oxilaplatin after one treatment, but did capecitabine (Xeloda) until it caused heart-attack like symptoms. I had a CT…

Good news - colonoscopy results
Yesterday I had my one-year post-op colonoscopy. (I had cancer of the rectum diagnosed Dec 2002. Chemoradiation followed by surgery in April 2003, then postsurgical radiation). I got the results immediately - ALL CLEAR!! Yeah! Hoorah! As some of you know, I believe in celebrating every bit of good news - hope you don't…

Black Stool
I had a positive cologuard test almost 2 weeks ago. I'm still waiting for my colonoscopy. Here's my issue. Over the past 4 days my stool has gone from brown to solid black. I have looked everywhere for what that means and can't find anything except Black Tarry stool, like tar. I am not having that and cannot find any…

Follow up appointment more confusing than anything
originally she told us 4 treatments, scan, surgery, the rest of treatments. Then it became 6 treatments, scan, surgery, the remaining 6. Now it's well it shrunk so much let's do 4 more treatments scan again, then consider surgery, but maybe finish all 12 treatments surgery, then done. Can I say how much not having an exact…

Tastes Change
I was in the hospital for 19 days while they cleared my abscess, found the tumor, removed the tumor. Most of the time I was nothing by mouth, with a couple of clear liquids only days. I have not had the desire for sweets or been able to eat sweets since. I tried an oreo when I came out of sedation for my chemo port, and it…

Results and a blood clot
i only have the results because they called about the blood clot. I guess he has a clot in the catheter? I am guessing port, since thats the only thing he has in his body? Has anyone ever had this? His tumor shrank from 3.8 to 2.5 cm so now we see if he can have surgery. I will know more in the morning, blood thinners…

White blood count way down
I am ge my second round of chemo. My white blo count dropped again. Today it was at .660. They are going to see if insurance will approve Neulast. Anyone else have this happen. They said, if it goes to .5 or below I could win a hospital stay.

Scan today results tomorrow
I was not overly worried until his latest CEA result came into his chart. He started chemo at 14.7, one month in was 8.2 and today one month later is 8.7. I know .5 is not horrible I know this in my rational thinking mind, but in my crazy go off the rails with worry wife mode I am certain the scan will show no change and…
