More on stress and cancer
I'm trying so hard to work on the areas of my personality and life that cause me stress. I'm turning more towards Eastern philosophies of relaxation, aromatherapy, audiotherapy and controlled breathing using Neti. I don't know about any of you, but since my diagnosis, well, even before i was diagnosed, i was becoming less…

Thank you all for your support! After 2 hours of waiting in a FREEZING room....and having my favorite appendages squished every which way, there was an ultrasound done, and now we wait for the results. Problem with chemo
I started chemo in mid-september - I ended up in the hospital for 7 days after the first round due to life threatening side effects. The tricky part is that the docs were not sure why I had such a bad reaction - they ruled out bacterial infection, something called a DPA deficiency and other things that were of concern. I…

One Year Anniversary!
Yesterday was the 1 year anniversary of my diagnosis. Had quite a "scare" last Halloween when my "routine" colonoscopy revealed a Stage III sigmoid tumor. This Halloween was MUCH better than last! I got to hand out candy to all the little Trick or Treaters, and had a candle-lit dinner with my husband on the "good" china,…

Any tricks to deal with neuropathy?
Dear friends, I had chemo #8 this week, and I was hit by several side effects big time. First I had an allergic reaction during the infusion. The nurse gave me 50 mg of benadryl and I slept like a baby. Then for the past 2 days my fingers are very sensitive to cold. When I am outside my eyelids and my nose are sensitive…

Eyesight Question
A little background. I have what some call Lazy Eye or wondering eye (right) and have had two surgeries way before I was DX with colon cancer. One when I was a very little girl and other when I was 17 yrs old. I have always wore glasses to read, watch TV and for computer work. I never had a problem with reading food labels…

Other categories?caregiver support
We have a tremendous support group here on this site. Being a "caregiver", I often check other categories on this site, because I sometimes feel a bit out of place (although you all have made me feel so welcome) such as the "caregiver" and "emotional support "categories .I'm urging other "caregivers" to do the same . No…

CEA-yea
Recap: Had the rise in CEA a month ago to 3.5 from previous level of 1. Pet scan negative. Did not want to wait 3 months to check again so had it drawn now and it has come back down to 0.6. I'm estatic. However, I wanted to pass along some information obtained from the book in our lab about CEA. I apologize for it being…

what's the smallest size ?
what's the smallest size that a tumor has to measure to be seen on a pet scan ? Yeah I know...me and my complicated questions . The reason why I am asking is because the CT showed 3 nodules in my right lung, but 3 weeks later they don't show in the pet.The largest one was 9mm. Maybe my Ozone treatments and foot detox are…

Today's laugh
I got to work today, and when I dropped my keys and bent over to pick them up, I noticed that, not only did I have on shoes that didn't match, they weren't even similar! In my rush I hadn't even noticed before. I had to come in and endure plenty of ridicule while I waited for my husband to bring me another shoe, hopefully…

Nanuk (Bud) is no longer in pain
We lost one of our dear semi-colon friends today at 1:30PM mountain time after a very long and courageous fight. Those that have been on the board for a while know him as our resident researcher. He was uncanny with finding neat and interesting articles on the internet and if you wanted to know what something was, you just…

Tribute to Bud
Tribute to Bud Andy and I had the pleasure of meeting Bud last year in Austin at CP3. Bud was a very thoughtful and caring person. I'm sure he's with the good Lord above now and is dancing with Sweet Baby Girl Andrea who he always admired for her courage and bravery. Rest in peace Bud. Love, Lisa In Remembrance Of Bud…

need good vibes
Hi everyone. I haven't been around too much lately, but have been battling this monster for years. I was diagnosed stage 3, but moved up to stage 4. I now have mets in lungs, bones, and a new dot in my liver. All is fine. I was on a study drug that is working well - been on it since 5/07. My only concern is that my right…

My humerous surgery story
I'm using humor as one of my biggest battle weapons and one of the funniest things that happened was just minutes prior to my surgery. I was on the gurney, the nurse had put the funky cap over my hair, they were going over where the incision would be and making sure I knew exactly what to expect during surgery. The nurse…

Colon Tumor - Please Help. New & Scared.
I am very sad to be here posting this. My mother turned 60 yesterday and had her colonoscopy this morning - the doctor found a tumor that was too big to remove during the procedure. He took a few samples and sent it off for biopsy. He told us that just by looking at it, he is unable to tell us whether it is benign or…

Cancer and HIGH stress
I did have a really bad time two days before my chemo pump was to be removed. I got urethra blockage from an accumulation of white blood cells and crystals caused by the radiation treatments, and could no longer pee. After some difficulty, they were able to put a catheter in, and the ER doctor came in to talk with me. He…

Another Surgery
My huband was diagnosed with colon cancer in May 2006 when a large tumor was removed. Subsequently he received chemotherapy and, although his cancer was restaged from 3 to 4, he went into remission. He, however, developed several abdominal abscesses and infections. Last week, when the latest abscess was drained the…
