Update after oncology appointment
So those of you that have been around for a while might remember my crazy request to pray for pancreatitis. I am asking again, just as I did in May 2010 (that time I did have it). It is a slight chance. I'd much rather deal with that than cancer progression. I'm not really that crazy! ;) Updates on my CaringBridge tonight.…

Ritalin for fatigue??
Hi all, Rick has been having extreme fatigue eleven out of fourteen days ever since he started on Folfiri,so the oncologist prescribed Ritalin today. I found that kind of strange since it's usually prescribed for ADHD, and that calms people down, not up, right?? Anyway, has anyone been given Ritalin to combat fatigue? And…

Cycle 2, Day 1 Clinical trial TRC 105
Saw head doc today, in charge of the trial...So far everything looks good. Blood work is a bit low in areas, but stable. Best news yet, CEA down from 14.4 to 12.3. YESSSSS! It had been steadily rising since May, like every week. Scan scheduled for Aug 22 and that's when we will know the whole story. Side effects have been…

rough scan results
Got scan results back today and they were a mixed bag. The good is that the tumors in the colon and liver are stable but the ones in the lungs continue to multiply. There were 10 new ones since the last scan in late March. Since surgery is out the plan is do do 5fu pump 24/7 for eight weeks and then do scans again. The…

The Sundance Channel: “The Visitation”
We were all pretty tired about five-hours later when we had to get back up. It felt like a hangover minus the alcohol. Standing in the doorway wondering which bad wolf was sleeping in her sister’s bed was my little grandniece, whom I had not yet met, with this very inquisitive look on her little face. They said, “That’s…

How do you live like this
I've posted in here twice before but today we found out that my mom definitely has colon cancer. It is about a one inch tumor in her ascending colon and she is 56 years old. She spoke with a doctor already and they were talking about doing some chemo before surgery to remove the tumor. Any thoughts about this? We are still…

My Grandson, Noah, was born this past Friday! I hadn't posted a profile picture til now -- guess I was waiting for a good lookin' guy. He's being held by Grandma. Firing oncologist?
Just curious if anyone has "fired" their oncologist? My oncologist is a nice guy, I think he's really busy and I realize that my cancer is maybe even gone completely after surgery last year but I've had a couple of things that kind of make me wonder if he is really taking my case seriously. I'm on 6 mos ct scans, CEA and…

Two good things happened this week - outside of the cancer realm
One, my grandson, Aiden Kendall Frost made his early debut at 5 lbs 3 0z and 18 inches long. He's the apple of my eye. I'm updating my picture. Another good reason for me to want to get better in this world. And on a lesser amazing front but still rather grand just in the thought alone, one of my sisters bought me a…

Mother
A couple of weeks ago my mom had a bump removed from her nose and it turned out to be cancerous. When I tried to talk to her about her dx, she just didn't really care that there was cancer. I told her she needed to start using sun screen all the time and again her attitude was pretty much "who cares." I'm really concerned…
