Lost My Best Friend
Hello, I’m new here. My name is Kam. I’ve lost family members to cancer before, but nothing compares to the loss of my best friend. I fell in love with him right before he was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in 2019. He passed away a week before my birthday on November 22 of this year. I never knew that I could love…

The New Board....et al
Hi all. I don't really use mobile for the board, so while I appreciate the attempt at modernization it's not really helping. If they just want us to do basic posts, fine, but for the more expansive parts of the Network like our profiles, they've cut off a lot of functionality. I tried to update some stats today and there…

It ended today
On todays morning around 6:30am, 26th November my dear Papa passed away. Papa had the feeling already but still went on Tuesday to the CT to get the confirmation. Lonsurf did not help. I took a 10h drive to get home as quick as possible. 26h after my arrival he was gone. He did not want to suffer long and wanted to die at…

Lonsurf and Y-90 Treatment
Hi All, haven't been around for a bit,I just wanted to have everything in line before I said anything. First off almost 2 cycles of Lonsurf done. No adverse side effects just a little tired at times but have to keep moving or nothing gets done. I should be on Avastian with the Lonsurf but they are holding back for now…

Confusing next steps
Hi All, My mum 69 was diagnosed with CRC stage 3 almost 5 years ago and she underwent surgery and chemo. Immediately after the first six months the cancer spread to her peritoneum with around 9 new tumors and one got as big as 13cm in 2 months. Then we changed the oncologist that she had, as he said that it was a lost…

CSN Team - discrepancy in 'Last Active'
or maybe I'm not understanding it right. Tueffel's last post was on November 26th, but her 'Last Active' shows as November 20th. I reply on an accurate 'Last Active' when I post my Birthday greetings, as I always check to see when a member has been last on the forum. If it is past one year, then I do not post a Birthday…

I'm new here. Intro
I was dx' with rectal cancer in early 2019. I had chemo and resection. I had major postsurgical complications - pneumonia, renal faliure, infected port, uremia, sepitcemia, respiratory distress syndrome, and dementia. I ended up on a respirator with a trach. I also had difficulties with my illeostomy. During my 3 month…

New Meat Study
"This week the Annals of Internal Medicine published studies arguing that eating red meat poses minimal health risks for most people, and that even our certainty about that link is weak. With these conclusions in hand, the authors offered a set of recommendations that most people could continue their current levels of meat…

successful surgery
My husband has asked that I post an update for him. He is usually a private individual but he has learned so much from so many of you who have shared your journey that he feels it is important to share his story for anyone who it might help. Troy was diagnosed with rectal cancer on November 17th, 2020 following a…

Just Diagnosed
Hi! I was just diagnosed on 11/10. Had surgery on 11/16, and the surgeon was unable to remove the tumor in my colon - now have ostomy bag. Quite a surprise to wake up to :) Have sought a second opinion and am looking forward to our 3rd opinion on Monday, with treatment hopefully beginning as soon as I recover from the…

Who has had chemo FIRST then surgery?
Recently found liver mets via MRI. Per surgeon, not a candidate for surgery at this time (five liver mets in various locations). The recommendation is to use chemo (FOLFIRI and Erbitux) to shrink/stop the tumor growth and then consider surgery at a future time. Anyone been down this road before? Is surgery a consideration…

Stage 4 Patient doing great, but 1 question
Hi All, haven't posted for a while but read everyone's posts frequently. Always thinking about you all here. My wife was dx'd in Aug 2019 with colon cancer - they removed the tumour in late Aug 2019 and very shortly after (5 weeks) they found two tiny mets in liver. Removed those. She did 12 cycles of chemo that ended in…

Taking a break
Hello guys, I am taking a break from the forum. Papa is brave and fighting the cancer which is of course exhausting and we all hope that the CT next week on Tuesday (we will hear Wednesday) shows that the progress stopped. I am a little negative now. A lot negative things happened (Folfiri failing, peritoneal mets), guess…

Avastin question
I'm starting to experience the bloody tissue syndrome in the morning with increasing severity. I don't wake up with a bloody pillow as of yet. However, this morning when I performed my usual blowing o' the nose, it took a couple of minutes to clear up, with fairly red tissue paper left in the wake. So then: Does it get…

mojogirl67
M last checked in Wed. Apr. 14th of this year. Her story/history is gone now, though she said her daughter[s] would let us know if she passed. She and I had a lot of long, caring, honest talks on messaging, and though we all knew and accepted her decision to just live without chemical intervention, I feel frustrated to…

Adding to the mystery
If you guys recall, I had a scare last month where I believed I was feeling an intestinal blockage caused by a recurrence at the original site. Everyone who knows what they are talking about poo-poo-ed that assumption and today they were proven correct as my scans showed the same slight shrinkage on tumors. What no one has…

Hello so finally heard from clinical trials . They sent the referral back to oncologist saying phase 1 clinical trials not right for my dad .Now if I'm not mistaken that is good news right ? Some in family take it as bad just looking for thoughts ? To me it means there is still hope with other treatments .I
