Howdy
Helllo everyone, it's been ages since I have posted in here. I still lurk sometimes however I have not been very active. I suppose it is the survivors guilt getting to me. For the newbies, I am a stage III rectal cancer surviver, I was diagnosed in 2008, had the oral chemo and radiation, resection, Folfox, illeostomy and…

Met New Surgeon
Met my new surgeon Wednesday after my "wonderful" surgeon left because of difficulties in the "new health care law." He saved my life and now I'm dealing with a new surgeon but have to admit I'm glad that he has been recommended by my original doctor. I've lost so many doctors because of this new health care law and I'm…

This seems very interesting
http://www.envitamexico.mx/adoptive-autologus-immunotherapy/ Watch the video, it explains the treatment well, might be an alternative to Germany clinical trial for CRC here; http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT00720785

New Trial for mCRC/recurrent CRC opens this month
This is the guy I saw for my 2nd opinion. He has added Celebrex to the chemo mix with his patients, and claims significant improvements in outcomes. He is here in Seattle, with the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, but apparently will work with docs in other areas. Just wanted to bring it to everyone's attention. Many thanks…

A Small Celebration and Fear
I had my last of 12 FOLFOX treatments this week and was just disconnected from the take home chemo. The CT scan I had four weeks ago still shows NED. I feel like this should be a time for celebration, yet instead I find myself feeling sad and worried about what comes next, scared about possible recurrence, and all the…

It's Been Way Toooooooooooooooo Long !
I have been lurking on an off for the last few years, but something always draws me back to check in. For those who don't know me or remember me, I was DX with Stage II Colon Cancer back in 2006 (8 years; boy time flys); went through treatments, surgeries, etc., and had my last yearly CT Scan in March 2014 and still NED…

Friends of Buzz
I got a note from his minister of music yesterday that said Buzz's sister is battling cancer. She had not been doing well with tx's but her last report showed no cancer. She has not told the church what kind of cancer it is. Also, he thought we'd want to know that Buzz's kids are doing great. A local group did a big event…

CT Scan tomorrow
Well tomorrow another CT/scan . I get them about every three months. Turns out about nine months ago after an interval of a year showed two "lesions" one about 3/4 and the other about 1/2 inch in size. So oncologist ordered an MRI followed by a ultra sound and then a ultra sound with a biopsy. CT/scan; MRI; unltra sound…

PET results - Mets to liver, and a worrisome spot in the rectum - UPDATE April 17th
Thank you so very much, Patchadams and those who were thinking of me today. So, there is a worrisome spot in the rectum and a growing spot on my liver. As far as the spot in the rectum, my Oncologist is baffled, as I was radiated to Hell and back in that area, plus I had a clean colonoscopy in January. Anyway, he wants me…

What does a high D-Dimer mean?
Hey all, I have a question. Does anyone know what an elevated D-Dimer means if there is no evidence of a blood clot? Jason's is very high (2480.0 normal is 0.0-400.0). He was having some chest pain, so they did a test to check for a blood clot but didn't find anything.....

Dear, dear me, my butt is sore. Update
So today I had my Flexi Sig. First finances. Some of you may remember how I was quoted $29,450.00. First thing I asked when going to admittance was to talk about this. The lady admitting me politely (and she was a lovely girl) told me that the hospital prices are always FOUR TIMES higher than big city hospitals. Ah, I…

If You Could Go Anywhere...
where would you go? If money, health, etc. were no object. Heck, let's even say time is no object, just in case anyone wants to travel to a different time period. I'm just curious about what places we consider our "dream" destination. My dream trip would be to see all of the UK, and Ireland as well. I would like to see…

Quick summary: I was diagnosed in August of 2009 with stage 2 colon ca . pT3cNOMX. Moderately differentiated. 13 lymph nodes taken and negative. Perineural invasion present.…

Status Check Call
Hey, I have an idea. Wouldn't it be nice to see everyone's status in a single list? If we post a Status Call on a monthly basis we can each comment on it with a short summary of our status... Our status should include Name, Stage, Current Status, Current Hopes It would make tracking and sending out positive thoughts /…

I have been following his blog. He posted today that he really wants to come back and will behave himself. CEA rises .5 to 10.9 - 18.6 - UPDATE - BAD
That news sure took the wind out of my sales. Doc wants me to have a PET scan. Insurance wouldn't cover it last time, so he will talk with them. If they won't do it, he said an MRI on the liver (have a suspect spot there) will be done. Onward and upward. I will not be beat.

Johnnybegood UPDATE
Was hoping to post that JBG was home safely & healing, but(there's always a but, isn't there) it seems that the steri strips used on the surgical incision are in the line of fire from the stoma bag attachment & they would not stay in place. At the moment, she has a gaping 4" incision which is covered with gauze. This is to…
