A flat polyp
Hi there, Anyone had experience with a flat polyp? My husband had his second colonoscopy to see what the first doctor saw and it is a 'flat polyp'. His CT scan is clear and the first set of biopsies that the other doctor took, were benign. This doctor took more biopsies but was not able to remove it - not sure why - but…

I have finally healed up from surgery and will be starting the chemo treatments this coming Wednesday. They did ct scan week ago friday and said the spots on liver now big enough to see on the scan not the best news but have fingers crossed. The good news is I have gotten most my energy back and staying active.

Hi Everyone!
I just wanted to give an update on my brother. He's still doing the 5-FU and irinotecan. He is on a lower dose which is giving him a better quality of life. Once he is doing better, they are going to add the leucovorin and erbitux back in. I guess they are waiting to see how he tolerates the dose he's on now. We are…

Leena aka Smokeyjoe passed away this morning
Leena sent me many pms on many nights telling me to tell my doctor to step up her game. She shared stories about her family and her pictures show her amazing passion for adventure. There is no rhyme or reason only sadness.

I posted this new thread just in case you missed her thread, though it would be good to post your condolences in her thread, I belive.

Getting Ready for Chemo/Radiation
My husband's port has been placed and he's mostly back to normal. He's been a trooper; having a long weekend to rest and recover was perfect for healing. We're almost done with doctor visits before treatment begins -- just one more with the radiologist to do the CT scan to get measurements before radiation begins. It feels…

Anyone ever tried Chaga Mushroom Tea?
While visiting my brother in MA last weekend, my nephew who works on an organic farm in VT gave us a Chaga Mushroom cut from a birch tree. I have been reading about it and how to make tea from it. It is an old remedy from Russia and China. I'm going to try it myself and see if my husband will consider it. I guess it can't…

CEA blahs
Well, I've been getting "under 1.0" CEA since my last surgery in February 2014, testing on a monthly basis. Went in for a test this morning and it came back as 2.0. Nothing to do except wait until next month and see if it goes up again or possibly goes down... I know that under 3.0 is normal. However, in my case CEA is…

Lunch break is over...
All, I just wanted to drop a quick note. I've not been online as often as I wish I could. I have been doing well and working very hard on several projects at work. I took my lunch today to drop in and read posts. Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers. I will post soon as I go in for my monthly CEA test…

Anyone heard of physiatry? UPDATED
NOT psychiatry, altho I am sure I need that as well. Since my not-so-great visits with the GP, this is the specialist they think I should see. Apparently they deal with chronic conditions relating to illness or injury. So I'm just curious if anyone has had any experience with this field of medicine.

My Husband's results!
Wow! I walked in with my husband to his appt. this morning with a heavy heart. I was trying to be calm for my husband but I was terrified - after all the doctor who did his colonoscopy said it might be benign but either way it had to come out and then started talking about how he might need radiation or chemo or both and…

Alkaline Diet Success?
Good morning; I was curious if anyone has had any success with the alkaline diet? If you haven't heard of this, in a nutshell, the idea behind it is that cancer thrives in a highly acidic body. The alkaline diet supposedly reduces the acid. Things like kale, lemon and lime water, celery, onions, spinach and on and on are…

Hello, I'm 33 and had a radical nephrectomy in January 2013 for Kidney Cancer.. since then my scans have been ok! I have had bright red blood on the toilet tissue a few times recently. Not a lot, but enough to freak me out after all that has just happened? I guess I should get a colonoscopy? That makes me nervous! Can…

Positive CT scan results:Update
If you all remember when I had my recurrence back in February there was a total of 7 lesions, 5 on the chestwall and 2 next to each other in my liver. The scan last week showed that 3 of the chestwall tumors are gone, 1 is the same size, and 1 has shrunk to half its origonal size. The liver only shows the on larger tumor…

Feeling calmer!
Hi everyone, Well, at last I'm feeling calmer about the fact that they think my husband has colon cancer. His CT scan is next Wed and on Friday we meet with the surgeon. You'd think I'd be used to extreme circumstnnces because of my husband's multiple serious medical issues over the years leading to open heart surgery,…

My sister who is 53 had colon and liver resection surgery April 15. She has been so sick throwing up ever since. They have inserted a feeding tube until her wound could heal. Said she wasn't getting enough of nutrients to heal the wound. She continues to be really sick and can't eat so went to the ER last night. They did a…

Haven't heard from Smokeyjoe so I contacted her husband.
Hi everyone, I was trying to give Leena a chance to come on the boards or Facebook thinking she might be taking a break. When a few months went by, I decided to reach out to her husband. I have been given permission to share the following message: "Unfortunately Leena is not doing well - she went in to the hospital in…
