My Patrick passed away today
Devoted husband of 31 years, loving father of our 2 children, great walker of our 2 dogs, and the very best friend that I could ever hope for. He fought this battle bravely for almost 3 years, and when he got knocked down, he dusted himself off, and kept fighting till the very end. He was a hands on type of guy. He loved…

Inspired By My Child to Live Again
I wanted to share this with you guys. Especially for anyone who just got an ostomy and is feeling down, or feels afraid because of cancer. I was optimistic and hopeful concerning my cancer. The first colostomy was so hard for me. Then an ileostomy came, and then back to a colostomy; in the course of a year. I hid it well…

Needing answers to my sister's cancer and surgery
In December my sister was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer that had moved to her liver. She did 3 months of chemo to shrink the tumors. The doctor said on a scale of 1-10 she had done so well hers was like a 12 and her tumors had shrunk enough to have surgery. She had 3 spots on her liver and they were hoping to do both…

Crying in the car at work in the bathroom in church, etc. Shaking all the time, can't eat, can't sleep, can't drink water. Just need some love from my other…

Trying to wean myself from forums for a while....
I'm NED for over 2 years now and have found that when I come and read posts about symptoms or reccurences, I go into a real tailspin of anxiety. I've talked with a therapist who has insisted that I need to stop fixating on cancer and try to get on with my life. She says I have PTSD and have developed Health Anxiety (I call…

Saying Hi
Hi everyone. Sorry I have been out for such a long time. I felt like I needed to rest myself from feeling all depressed and worrying. Recovering from my Microwave Ablation 'Cooked Liver' procedure - Update April 30th
OK, this was my 11th surgery. Why oh why oh why did I not ask more questions? I mean, come on, I really should know better. So, I figured that seeing they made it an outpatient procedure, I would be good to go in just a few days. IDIOT! Yesterday I was so tried of the pain that I talked to my surgeon's nurse. "Why am I…

CEA question about an old thread
I had bookmarked an old thread where one of our members had listed her CEA for years and it jumped all over the place, tho she remained clear of cancer. I kept it because I always worry so much while waiting for my CEA results. I tried to access it today and it says the thread is not found. I don't remember who was the…

Looking for insight from all of you
As many of you know, my brother has had a lot of medical issues that interfered with his getting chemo on several occasions. He also had to have his chemo reduced and some of the chemo meds eliminated because of the side effects. He is now on 5-FU and irinotecan. They had to cut the dose of 5-FU in half because of the side…

A Day At Sloan Kettering.....
I spent yesterday at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, first at some programs, and then at my surgeon’s research lab, where they are doing amazing studies on colorectal cancers. Met New Surgeon
Met my new surgeon Wednesday after my "wonderful" surgeon left because of difficulties in the "new health care law." He saved my life and now I'm dealing with a new surgeon but have to admit I'm glad that he has been recommended by my original doctor. I've lost so many doctors because of this new health care law and I'm…

New Trial for mCRC/recurrent CRC opens this month
This is the guy I saw for my 2nd opinion. He has added Celebrex to the chemo mix with his patients, and claims significant improvements in outcomes. He is here in Seattle, with the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, but apparently will work with docs in other areas. Just wanted to bring it to everyone's attention. Many thanks…
