Its certainly a roller coaster ride. Yesterday, we wer celebrating NED (no evidence of disease). I receive a call from my surgeion this morning who is referring me to the oncology surgeon. The mass is the size of a grapefruit. It was not there last year when they did the ct scan. The biopsy came back benign but my…

Do you prefer results face to face?
Just curious. My husband's doctor will not give scan results over the phone or email. Insists on face to face and the waiting drives me crazy. It would be my preference, and my husband's, to get the results as soon as they are available and have a chance to process things and then meet with her. I don't understand the…

Today's Test Results
I had all my scans on Monday. I don't have my oncologist appointment until March 23rd. I was pretty stressed as you can imagine and worried sick about waiting 2 full weeks for results. I asked my counselor for advice and she suggested I email my Dr and let her know my stress level over waiting 2 weeks. I did. I got a call…

Help With Medical Expenses
I'm not sure if information of this type is allowed on the site. My apologies to the mods if it is not appropriate. Earlier today, a couple friends came by to brighten my day with some tea and conversation. They inquired about my health and how I was doing and what they could do to help with. They also noticed the pile of…

Myelocyte Values
I had my every three months blood work and doc visit today. While I continue to have some of the typical challenges to recovery, I was told my labs looked pretty good and there was nothing of concern. I can never quite tell if this makes me paranoid or actively involed in my care, but I always look at my lab reports after…

Oxaliplatin: for how long can be taken?
Which is the longest period of time (and/or how many cycles) you have taken of Oxaliplatin? I ask this because mom here can need several cycles, due to liver metastasis, before the secondary effects make it think on other options? I ask either about personal experiences, or what you read/hear anywhere, thanks

Anyone taken TAS-102
My wife has been prescribed TAS-102 since the Folfox and Folfiri stopped working and the tumors on her lungs keep getting a little larger. I have read some things on the internet and the info the Dr's at Mayo gave her but wondering if anyone here ever did any of the clinical trials. It is close to FDA approval. Just…

New to this community-How to cope with what if's
Hello everyone. I am new here. My story began almost 4 years ago. I was diognosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer. I had the usual major surgery and my surgeon was very pleased with the outcome. He felt strongly he had gotten all of the tumor. I then underwent nearly 8 months of chemo. During chemo I worked. I am not sure…

Thank you for all the love and support! I am exhaling now! I had my colonoscopy today. every thing was clear! He checked pathology and the biopsy from last week is benign. I'm so relieved. The next step is removing the port. I didn't even realize how tense I've been. I know there are new people on the board starting the…

It's been awhile since my last post. My mom has stage IV mets to the liver and peritoneum. She was NED for a little while after she finished Folfox and Avastin. Her cea started climbing from 4 to 37 in 5 weeks so oncologist started Folfieri and Erbitux. She is doing great still works full time. As I sat there with her…

It Is Official: Stage IIIC and FOLFOX Starting Soon
From what I was told last week, before report really reviewed, sounded like Satge III C and FOLFOX (like NED, another term I had not idea about a month ago). Meeting with Oconologist next week to start the next part of this off. Infusion vs pills and all the rest. I am a little over two weeks out from surgery, but seem to…

Home and surprised
i am home fromy biopsy. I was surprised when I got to the lab to find out it was not a liver biopsy. They biopsied a mass in the lower left abdominal cavity. I was totally taken aback. i am home very tired and no pain. I haven't had time to research any of it. The doctor said 7-8 days for results. Yolanda

Newbie Here - It's official
I'd posted in the Anal Cancer board last week but can't seem to find it. Since my primary doctor refered me to a "colorectal" specialist I figured I might have been posting in the wrong area anyway. After a colonoscopy on 2/26 with the discovery of a mass, subsequent biopsy, today they made it official. Malignancy -…

getting on that roller coaster again Update!
It's 7 1/2 months post surgery to remove three tumors and what was supposed to be a temporary colostomy that became permanent. CEA was holding steady at 1.5 (3 two-month interval checks) and yesterday shot up to 2.1. Never a good sign for me. Trying to be positive, will check again in one month. Way too early for a PET…

My update. Liver biopsy tomorrow
I've been a little quiet lately. During the week of NanaB's passing, I lost two additional people in my life. I lost my friend of 30 years. He passed away suddenly from heart problems. I also lost my uncle (by marriage). He was a doctor at the Mayo clinic. He was the second or third opinion in my cancer battle. I depended…

Husbands stage 4 colon ca w/mets
It's been awhile since I've posted anything. My husbands cancer has had it's ups and downs and now as I write this he is in the dying process. He hasn't had any fold and just enough water to get meds down I called hospice in and the kit they send is just a cocktail of drugs to murder the patient (my opinion) I'm thankful…

NED 5 Years & Counting
I wanted to share my good news for the benefit of the newly diagnosed and terrified out there. I remember how I felt when I -- in the middle of the night, unable to sleep from worry -- found this website and discovered that it was possible to fight and survive this dreadful disease, even starting from a Stage 4 diagnosis.…
