I am in shock. I thought you ladies would jump all over the Sister Study. Perhaps I described it poorly. For any of you who have sisters who have not been dx with cancer, this is their chance to be a part of the research. It is not a clinical trial, they are not given any drugs, they are just followed. It involves two…

tamoxifen and reconstruction
I have decided, after 2 years, to have reconstruction after my extensive lumpectomy. I saw the surgeon yesterday and she said I would have to stop taking the tamoxifen for 3 weeks (week before, week of and week after surgery) because of the risk of deep vein thrombosis. I'm a bit worried about being off the tamoxifen for…

I was in the chat room tonight and was attacked for telling about how I imagined holding on the robe of Jesus when I received my chemo. Since when can you not talk about something like that? I wasn't pushing it on anyone, just stating an experience. I'm never going back in there again. I have never pushed what I believe on…

Breast Cancer Recurrence
After being considered cancer free for 7 yrs, I found out in January that it had recurred in my bones/liver/lung lining. I stopped Tamoxifen 1.5yrs ago and the Dr. began monthly bone treatments with Zometa and Femara at that time. Initially Femara seemed to push things back but after 5 months, tumor markers going back up.…

Job Hunt Not Going Well
Well, I am getting really discouraged. I have had wonderful interviews and still no job. My last one for consumer affairs with US Airways hurts me the most. They had me come in and write two letters, I made 100 on one and 98 on the other, then an interview and a tour. Next they did a background check, which is flawless,…

Her-2 Overexpression
Does anyone have Her-2 Overexpression and Ki-67 as strong positive 3+ as a diagnosis? Tumor was extremely small at 0.3 centimeters. No spread! I had a left breast mastectomy last Sept. followed by 4 rounds of chemo-/adriamycin, cytoxan, and taxotere. Not on anything now because there is nothing to do but hope it doesn't…

After surgery
It's not been a full month since my diagnosis. I had a lumpectomy on my left breast 10 days ago. Fortunately, the cancer has not spread to the lymph nodes so I know that I have been blessed in this regard. However, I am still swollen and the area around the incisions is warm. Being new to all this, I don't know if this is…

Iknow that I have seen the emails and ads proclaiming the arrival of the pink and white M&Ms for some time and was beginning to believe it was not true, but, I did find some info on Masterfoods site, (they are the parent co. of Mars), and on the Komen site. 1 year down and having fun
I try not to talk about cancer anymore. I joined a fun club (Red Hat Society) where we just act as kids and don't talk about aches and pains. I know it's an escape from reality, but participating in the group's activities makes me forget I had cancer. I try not to live in fear any more. However, if someone needs to talk,…

Breast Reduction Surgery
After seven years I have decided that I would like to pursue a breast reduction in my "good" breast. Will I be up against an insurance battle? Have folks had good luck with coverage for such surgery? I'm tired of poor fitting bras and slipping straps and feeling lop-sided. Thanks.
