Hi to everyone , It's been quite awhile since I've posted. This month marks one year since chemo. I am back in school and things are Ok. A few months ago for about 3 months I was so exhausted that I could hardly function. Oncologist told me that some people experience a relapse and not to worry. Family doc thought it was because of chemo. I kept saying come on it's been months so finally they ran tests Well I had mono!!! Explains alot. Just goes to show we know our own bodies so at least I knew something else was wrong and I was right. Listen to your bodies ladies they talk to you better than anyone else!!! Hugs to all,
Lynne

    Hi Lynn,
I totally agree with you about listening to your own body, also we have to be our own advocate too!
Reading your post reminded me that I am also one year out of chemo this month. I have been afraid to do any kind of celebration as it seems once I put my guard down something new happens.
My most recent escape was not cancer related but just dumb luck. I was on crutches for over a week because I feel down a few stairs and had a small fracture in my foot!!! Like you I did not get mono but ended up with shingles, that was FUN!! Luckily they caught it really early so it was not that big of a deal but just one more hurdle to get over!
I am glad you are doing well Lynn, and thanks for reminding me that I too am one year out of chemo!

    Hi lynne:

Congratulations! (Sounds funny saying this to someone with mono but just proves that old adage about there being two sides to every coin...or something like that.LOL) Thus, I congratulate you on the one year mark while sending my sympathies that you've got mono.

It's great that you listened to your body and took the necessary steps to find out what was wrong. There IS a good thing about mono: It GOES AWAY! In the meantime take good care of yourself.

Wishing you a speedy recovery and thanks for reminding us about the importance of advocating for ourselves.

    Love, light and laughter,
    Ink

Thanks, Kris and Ink, I feel so much better that I know what's wrong and that its not something horrible. Hey we've lived through chemo and cancer the best is yet to come!
