Does anyone know if all states provide the same type of radiation treatment for the breast? Are some places better than others or about the same nationwide?
I appreciate any information you can provide. Thank you so much.

    I don't actually know the
I don't actually know the answer inre to the states, but, different hospitals/cancer centers do have different machines. They are not all the same. Some are older, some are newer, some are just plain on the cutting edge. Ask your oncologist how old the machine is etc. The one I am getting radiation treatments in, is less than 1 year old, a lot newer than the other machines in the other hospitals in the city I am going to. Good luck!

    Machines Do Vary
Hi, Jan, I also believe that the radiation machines vary, just as with mammography. Not all places have digital mammography. I didn't do any research as my hospital system recently issued an article about the new radiation machine they have. But, even with machine differences, I believe a clinic administering radiation must meet standard of care requirements. Those would be issued by the medical field, not the states.

Have you met with a radiation oncologist? If not, you might ask your oncologist. He or she should be able to tell you something.

    That sounds like a question
That sounds like a question for the Oncologist, radiologist, or the administrator of the facility???. Maybe you could try to contact the American Medical Association to see what the regulations might be and how to find out whether your facility meets industry standards. I assume that all of them would have to meet some kind of standard to remain in operation, like Drs. are supposed to have a Licence, etc. Maybe your state has a Medical board that has some kind of legal criteria, not sure.

    Hope it helps, seof
