Learning to Hate Pink
Prior to being given the diagnosis of breast cancer for xmas last year....my favorite color was pink. Now, I can hardly stand it. Don't get me wrong, I am 100% for supporting the cause, walked in the Kommen Race for the Cure even tho very weak from chemo, etc.....but it seems like friends, well wishing i'm sure, are intent…

I've Lost My Mind
I think that I have really lost my mind so if anyone happens to find it. Please give it back. What the heck is with this lack of memory? I completed chemo 1 year ago (April 3rd) and I keep thinking that it is going to get better but it doesn't. Actually I did think that I was doing better but now the past couple of weeks I…

Farah Fawcett
I wonder if anyone else is having a reaction to the news about Farah Fawcett (they say her death is imminent). It's not even the same type of cancer, but I have been SO depressed since hearing about this. I had stage I cancer, but BRCA positive, but after listening to the Farrah Story, I keep on thinking how this could be…

I Finished Radiation Treatments!!!!!
I had my last radiation treatment today! 37 total, 25 to the entire area and 12 boosters. These last few "boosters" were the worse. I am soooooooooo glad they are finally over. I am really tired and I hope my energy will return soon. My breast is burnt, since the lumpectomy site is right on it. So, it is burnt, blistered…

One more time/what happens when you stop AIs
No one responded to my post about this, so I'll try again: I've only been taking Femara, but I'm already wondering: so what happens in 5 or 10 years (new research shows we might have to be on this stuff longer) when we stop taking our aromatase inhibitors? Does all the estrogen come back and then put us at risk? Do the…

Hello my Kindred Spirits~ Do you have any idea how frustrating it is to write responses to your posts and when I hit "submit" have the dreaded "page cannot be found" appear out of nowhere?! It has been happening more and more lately, grrrrrrrrr! I would never, ever want any of you to think I am ignoring you and your…

Here I go - port in place & first AC treatment
Hello to all my fellow breast cancer warriors! I have been to this site almost daily and have read a lot of good and comforting advise by all you wonderful women. Based on the overwhelming thumbs up I received from many of you for the port, I had mine installed 2 days ago. The operation was a breeze but I am still a bit…

I know you are all going to think I am some special kind of idiot when you read this....
I am going in for my first mammogram on Friday. They are sending me for a Diagnostic Mammogram, different from regular?? I have never had one, 52 and my boobs are still pancake virgins! I still have so much pain at the tumor site, they took about 1/3 of my right breast, said the tumor was larger than expected, and they…

How to prepare for my wife's mastectomy
First of all, let me apologize for barging onto what is a women's discussion board, but I haven't yet found a men's site that I can use. My wife was diagnosed with Stage IIB breast cancer (lymph node involvement) two weeks ago and will undergo a mastectomy of one breast and removal of some lymph nodes the first of the…

It's Official...
It's official. As of today, my doctors have declared me fit as a fiddle. This marks my one year anniversary since completing treatment. Needless to say, I'm very relieved and happy. Now if the antidepressant they prescribed agrees with me and works, I may truly believe that I'm on the road. Thanks for listening to me.…

If it's not one thing
it's another The good news: After 5 months of unemployment (and I'm a nurse) during this journey, I have a job! I will be working and living on the Navajo reservation in New Mexico. They provide reasonable housing, pay to move me and my family and pay me well! The area is pretty at about 6300 feet with pinon pine and very…

my husband just asked me how I know the mammo will hurt

Yesterday I was told MRI looked good, showed no more cancer than what we already new. Today I saw onc and she tell's me that MRI…

Adventures in Retail Therapy
When Moopy decided on Thursday that we needed a new refrigerator, I got right on it. When I first moved to Springfield, MO in 1987, I rented from a couple who owned a mom and pop appliance store. When the Moop and I got married in 1992, we bought all of our appliances and even our first bedroom set from Foster's Appliance.…

I WON (now desparate for advice!)
Last weekend I went to the nicest fundraiser I think I will ever go to. The group had a Mother's Day Out for the ladies where we could participate in a silent auction, 50/50, get door prizes, sign up for all kinds of services and stuff. Well, to make a long story short, I dropped a couple of tickets in the silent auction…
