Chemo side effects - how sudden?
Hoping some of you can give me some guidance here... I will start chemo (Cytoxan/Taxotere) next week. My oncologist is astoundingly confident and reassuring that I'll tolerate it well and be able to keep working, which I intend to do. I have a sedate desk job, but my office is an hour's bus ride from home. I'm finding my…

Weird Things to be grateful for (and more to come!)
1) That I have the strength to open the front door on my own. 2) That I can close my own car door 3) That I do not have "skipping ropes" of drains attach to me and that I can move freely 4) That I do not have a water-balloon inside of me 5) That I can lift pots and pans on my own. 6) That I can give/ receive non-defensive…

The game of golf
GOLFERS WILL UNDERSTAND THIS STORY It was a sunny morning, a little before 8:00 am, on the first Hole of a busy course, and I was beginning my pre-shot routine, visualizing my upcoming shot when a piercing voice came over the club house loud speaker, 'Would the gentleman on the woman's tee back up to the men's tee please!'…

hot flashes & night sweat tip--worked for me
The following worked for me and just passing on because it might help someone else. If I ate chocolate or had caffeine in the afternoon or evening then the night sweats were worse--cut that out and was more tolerable. I could not stand waking up at night and the cotton sheets were totally drenched so I bought a pair of…

A Sign of things to come....
I was just at my friends' house chattering to her about my future plans, dreams, goals and intentions. I looked down and there it was... A 4 Leafed Clover! Its' a SIGN! It's causing me a little consternation though, as the Lat. Name for Clover is Trifolium Campestre.. Tri = 3. Therefore this does not really exist..Does it?…

Unexpected Funk
I'm having a moment. It's not heading in a good direction. I'm scheduled for chemo and a MUGA tomorrow. It's a 1 1/2 hour drive there and home. It will be my 3rd in this series of weekly for 12 weeks, and for the first time, I don't want to go. It's different than dreading it. I mean, I really don't want to go. My mind is…

Revised 60 hits
Some of the artists of the 60s are revising their hits with new lyrics to accommodate aging baby boomers. They include: Bobby Darin --- Splish, Splash, I Was Havin' a Flash. Herman's Hermits --- Mrs. Brown, You've Got a Lovely Walker. Ringo Starr --- I Get By With a Little Help From Depends. The Bee Gees -- - How Can You…

Some Rad questions....
Hmmmm....I was just wondering. I noticed some people started using lotions from day one and some (Like me) was told that when you start to turn red (in about 2 weeks) we will give you all the lotions you need. How many think it is more benefical to use them in the beginning? I was also wondering....they told me do not…

CMF Chemo
Has anyone had CMF chemo? I've finished my 4th of 8 treatments, dose dense. My oncologist says it is well tolerated by most people. I was ill for the first couple of treatments but now I think we have the right combo of anti-nausea drugs and steroids. I'd be interested to hear about anyone else's experience. Thanks.

two large garbage bags
Some may have seen or heard this one before: A little old lady was walking down the street dragging two large plastic garbage bags behind her. One of the bags rips and every once in a while a $20 bill falls out onto the sidewalk. Noticing this, a policeman stops her, and says, "Ma'am, there are $20 bills falling out of…

Areola changes colors and I feel it when it does - Anyone else?
Hi! I posted this before, but, wanted to see if anyone else was having this happen and if you had it happen, is it still? I had a lumpectomy and I had radiation treatments also. My plastic surgeon made a small half moon incision next to my aerola to remove my tumor. It isn't on my aerola, but, next to it. Every now and…

I Get By With A Little Help...
This effort was inspired by Margo's wonderfully awful list of mutilated 60s hits. I sang this for Moopy in the car on the way back from treatments today, and she said it shouldn't damage her reputation too much if I posted it here. What would you say if I loaded my pants? Would you jump up and stalk out on me? Lend me a…

Just diagnosed last month :(
Hi everyone; I was just diagnosed last month with Breast Cancer. I have to say that it really overwhelmed me. My radiologist saw a suspicious area on my regular mammogram and thought it was worth looking at. Well, after a steriotactic core biopsy and an excisional biopsy, I have extensive DCIS and stage 1 invasive ductal…
