StandUp2Cancer
Just made a little donation; just what I could afford now. Maybe tonight is the night that our family on the MB could take a minute to give (to charity of their choice) whatever we can? Or to take a minute to say a silent prayer to all suffering if we can't afford anything.

Just wanted to introduce myself- DCIS dx
I’m afraid I’m unwittingly joining your club! After a long summer of almost weekly testing (mammo/ultrasound/MRI/core biopsy/MRI-guided vacuum biopsy, etc.) I was told I had atypical ductal hyperplasia. I knew I was already high risk due to strong family history and prior multiple cysts & atypia cells, so it wasn’t a…

ultrsound for blood draws
just learned of something new on last hospital stay...veins are shot from chemo and can only do blood draw on one arm...they had an iv team that came to the room with an ultrasound machine so they could go to upper arm and to see where and how deep to go...voila...of course that was an option after fighting off the ego…

Later this morning I will finish the last of my treatments. 4 rounds AC done, 16 rounds of Taxol done, 34 Rad treatment done, 1 year Herceptin done ( today ). Can't believe it's over. Would not have done so well had it not been for all the support I have had here with my CSN family, Thanks to all.

Celebrating with NED
Spent the last three days being poked, proded, and generally run through the mill. Eyes examined on Tuesday, no sign of glaucoma, cataract has not changed. Primary physician on Wednesday, all blood work came out normal, cholesterol 143, kidney and liver functions okay. Today (Thursday) spent two hours with my oncologist,…

Spiculated /stellate mass
Having abiopsy next week for a 12mm spiculated mass. Are all spiculated breast cancer and if NOT what else can it be? Are spiculated a certain form of breast cancer? I know the odds are against me. I had a breast cancer tumor marker test done and that came back perfect. I am a stage 3 colon cancer survivor since 2007.…

I have had a biopsy that confirmed stage zero DCIS - thanking God we caught it early. I have had a consult with the genetisist(sp), I had an MRI done this past Tuesday…

DC/Maryland/Pennsylvania area -- check in here!
In response to Pat's (padee6339) and Linda's (linpsu) questions about organizing a possible CSN get-together in their area, here's the list of folks in Washington DC, Maryland, and Pennsylvania that I put together back in June. If I missed you, or if you're new and live in this area, please check in and let them know. You…

8 months later still have fluid
Good Morning, I had bilaterals Jan 5,2010 and just had more fluid drained from the left side! My surgeon is also unhappy how the right side has developed a thick ridge of scar tissue below the incision site. Perhaps because of all the fluid that side had also. My left side but developing ridging also but with fluid still…

GRADUATION DAY
Sitting quietly reviewing the last 6 weeks and boy have I learned a lot about myself and about people. I feel complete now and can get on with life but in a new amazing way. I feel more alive now, I notice every leaf and rain drop, every act of kindness, and now it is time to give back. Today I said goodbye to the women…

I Love This Inspirational Saying
Courage isn't always a loud roar. Sometimes courage is a quiet voice at the end of the day that says, "I will try again tomorrow!" Hugs, Renee

Raw fingertips
My fingertips are peeling, dry and very raw. I keep using cream but it's not working. Anyone having this problem? I'm on Taxol and have 4 more weekly treatments. I'm glad that I don't have the tingling in my fingers that they speak of as a common side effect but this is really annoying. I know it could be worse but I wanna…

How close are you to Philadelphia, PA?
I did some brief calculations and it looks like 9 of us are within 2 hours of Philadelphia. At least 3 more are within 3 hours. Is anyone interested in trying to get together in or near Philadelphia? There is another post "DC/Maryland/Pennsylvania Area" that you may want to read. Meena says the hoagies and steak sandwiches…

not depressed....BUT
Today, I just fell like screaming to the rafters "Cancer Sucks"!!!!!!! There, it is said. As all of us, I read the good news and the sad news.....what we all probably thought was going to be just a bump in the road of life for us, has turned out to be a much longer and harder journey than we imagined. I was/have been lucky…

Hi everyone, almost dancing with NED...just wanted to share my new update news on my Mammo & MRI, well so far the test was good enough for Doc and pathologist not to worry about my left breast (the one I had the C tumor in) is a little swollen but of course they say its nothing to worry about. So how come I'm still worry?…

Strange New Side Effect
Ladies, Has anyone else experienced a peculiar sensation running up your spine? It is not really pain, but more like a throbbing sensation that starts at the base of the spine and runs up to my neck. This is a brand new 'side effect'. I don't know if its from the chemo, the Neulasta or the pharmacy full of other meds to…

Zometa treatments
Hi all. Been busy with work and having to get up at 5. I have just finished my 3rd Zometa monthly treatments and noticed I'm more achy this time. Are the effects increasing with each one? My first one I had no effects at all. Now I'm feeling more sore and stiff. Maybe cause I've gained a few pounds.

depressed about side effects/want to hear from others
I know this is whining, but please indulge me my pity party for a few minutes: I was diagnosed with stage I bc in 2008, but because I am BRCA 1, I had a double (preventive on one side/for cancer on the other) mastectomy. I tried to do everything I could to prevent the cancer coming back, so I enrolled in a clinical trial…

more pain 1 wk after lumpectomy
I woke up yesterday laying in my insision with my arm stretched up under my head. So I understood my increased soreness yesterday. Last night I slept on my back and woke up feeling better. But as the day has gone on it has become more painful. I didn't do more stuff so thats not to blame. Did anyone else experience…

osteonecrosis of the jaw
I have not posted for a long time, mostly because I have been doing well...until now. I had stage I breast cancer in 2008, but I had the BRCA 1 gene so I wanted to do everything possible to prevent a recurrence. I had a double mastectomy (one preventive and the other breast was cancerous) and decided to be in a clinical…

Hi, Everyone!
I just wanted to check in and say "Hi" to everyone again. I have been gone for a couple of months while I had rads. I chose to have it at a Cancer Center that was a little farther away so it took 2 hours a day to get there and get back (they were very efficient but the drive was about 40 minutes each way). Trying to keep…

Have that burned tongue feeling?
I never had "mouth sores" so to speak. I did for 1-2 weeks after each chemo have a burned tip of tongue feeling, like if you drank something really hot. It impared my taste and was actually painful when eating. I had been using bioten mouthwash, toothpaste & "Magic Mouthwash" prescribed by onc. Nothing worked for the…

Good Day!!
I had my follow up with my surgeon today (my bilateral mastectomy was on 8/27). They pulled my drainage tube in the right side. The left one will be there for a while since I had chemo before surgery and that is the side they did the lymph nodes. Anyway...right side benign. Left side there was no evidence of any invasive…

How do you deal with Survivor Guilt
My mom is on her last days after being diagnosed with Breast Cancer just 8 months ago. I have lived / survived through three separate diagnosis of Breast Cancer. The most recent being in 2008. During my treatment days my mom never left my side. She cleaned me up (I couldn't make it to the bathroom often) and never…
