I'm watching SU2C also. I made a donation last year as well. This year my brother-in-law did the Relay for Life and my son-in-law rode 100 miles in the Lance Armstrong fundraiser. Every little bit helps.

My son and I watched together. Looks like they're doing great things. Particularly interesting to me was the statement that new "targeted therapies" will be available
within 12-18 months. I believe (as I must) that good things are on the horizon. I
too made a small donation, guess the small ones add up!

Watched it too. I am on unemployment and funds are tight, but have still managed to donate a bit this year to some of the organizations. Every little bit helps!
...here on the West Coast.
But I stopped crying long enough to laugh out loud at the quote, "Chemotherapy is like trying to turn off the lights in your kitchen...by nuking your house."
Yep, that's a pretty good description of what it feels like!

I agree napalm for the body! Isnt it funny how you can be so calm and then something like that comes on and the tears are right there. My husband said havent you had enough of cancer?? In the past I would have been mad, but I know that its been his disease along with mine, and he is verbalizing his feeling. I might get one of those tee shirts. But yes I have had enough of cancer but ..... It was gratifying to see they are working on this sometimes the progress seems so slow.0 -

You know, the progress does seem slow sometimes but look how far they've come in just the last 5 - 10 years. They WILL get there! Remember POLIO? My fingers are crossed. God bless the scientists.

emotions
I started to watch it but my emotions went awry and when I started to cry I changed the channel. I consider myself a strong person, but sometimes things just dredge it all up and my emotions cannot handle it. It's a good thing indeed, I just could not sit through it.

I started crying about 60 seconds into it, with the "Cancer doesn't care if..." segment. You and Penny are right -- sometimes the littlest things just dredge it all up.
I was watching by myself, which was good, because I kept thinking -- geez, what would my girlfriend say about my sitting here just sobbing my way through a TV show without changing the channel? But I knew the show was only an hour, so I figured just an hour of catharsis wasn't a bad thing for me.
All cried out now -- onto my weekend!

watch online?
Does anyone know of a website where I can watch this in it's entirety? I was at the hospital with my mom last night & didnt' see any of it, but I'd really like to watch it!
*hugs*

I started crying as soon as it came on. I watched while waiting for my slow dial-up to log onto their website. I was trying to hide from my husband but when he realized I was trying to donate he suggested I call the number on the screen. I told him I wouldn't be able to talk because I was too emotional. He watched the remainder of the program with me and hugged me several times. Oops, I thought I was all cried out but here come the tears again. I hope they raised lots of money last night so they can get busy finding those cures!!!

This probably sounds terrible to say...but it really does make me feel better to know that I wasn't the only one bawling over a telethon last night!

Very inspirational show!!
I cried my way through the show but couldn't get through on the phone or internet to make my donation. I'm going to try it today. Having the researchers work together has created so much new information. I think this is very hopeful for all cancer patients. 100% going directly to research really impresses me.

I also cried throughout the show. I was thrilled when I saw Dr. Dennis Slamon (developer of Herceptin) talk about target treatments. If it wasn't for him all of us HER2+ survivors would have a death sentence. Very glad the researchers are working together so drugs can be approved faster.

Had it on but felt the emotions creeping up on me, so checked my emails and the boards for a diversion. I'm more emotional now that treatment is over. I'm still tired and cant do what I used to do and that makes me sad. Trying to find that new normal everyone talks about. I'm not very motivated.0 -

on Hulu Live Streaming and saw the entire hour plus the half hour pre-show and the half hour after show. It was truly amazing. The stats of 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be dx with cancer in their lifetime blew me away. It gave great info on what research is being done. It was well done and it doesn't hurt to shed a few tears, we've earned that right.....
Hugs, Judy :-)
P.S. Natly you are still just barely out of treatment, give yourself more time. It's a gradual process to begin really seeing progress and feeling more like yourself again. My breakthru came almost 6 mo out of treatment when I changed my bed by myself...you'll get there. You've been such an inspiration all these months, be gentle with yourself, any day now you'll see some improvement but it doesn't happen overnite, it sneaks up on you!0 -

thats right , it comes in small discreet changes, things you couldnt do before you suddenly can. I remember in June I started making dinner, but I was tired, then July I wasnt so tired and august not tired at all. Lately I have been tired because My daughter had her wisdom teeth out and I was up one night with her and that took me a bit to recover from. so small things set me back, but for the most part I am encouraged. Then I have days where I just cant stand it. all normal I think. YOu are such a kind lady, try thinking about what you would say to one of us and then say it to yourself.0
