pathology
I had a bilateral mastectomy last Friday. I was hoping for a better pathology report since I had already completed chemo. 3 positive nodes and 3 positive ducts. Right side was benign. Somebody mentioned to me once that they had to have chemo before and after surgery. Has anybody had that and why? I have a follow up on…

Recurring breast cancer
Was decidedly unhappy when I went for my 4 year check up last week and found the breast cancer mets were in the middle of my chest. This began in 2006 and geez, I'd really like to have been done with it. So the second round will start shortly; chemo, surgery, radiation and the reconstruction if I want. I've had so many…

Hi everyone! I haven't posted in a while. I have gone back to work and it's back to the norm. Remember I finished chemo May 7th and I finished rads in mid July. I still have my expander and port and will find out when I can have the expander surgery and port removed next week. Anyway, you know I couldn't wait for my hair…

High Plains Relay for Life Summit in Dallas
Reading about the Texas Re-Union made me wonder if anyone else in the midwest will be attending the ACS Relay for Life Summit in Dallas later this month. I'll be there, and would like to meet up with any of the Sisters in Pink who might also attend. Sort of a mini re-union while we're educated on leading our local Relays!…

Anyone use chlorophyll?
I had a friend tell me that it helps your body to "detoxify" after chemo and alliviates any side effects similar to the numbness I'm experiencing.

Heard from Balentine
Good afternoon ladies! I know that some of you corresponded with Balentine regularly over PM. I did as well. After learning that she had removed herself from the site for reasons that frankly disturb me, I was able to contact her by phone and now am in contact with her by email. I asked if she wanted me to give you all an…

Cancer or not cancer, that is the question?
Hi all, I'm new to the site but not new to the disease. I had my first partial mastectomy in June of 1996 at the age of 26. After finding the lump and it being passed off by the first Dr as a cyst, then a fibroadenoma by the second Dr, I finally got a third opinion. Although reluctant this third Dr agreed to take the lump…

Soy
As you know, I have both breast and endometrial cancer, and they are both estrogen positive. I asked my oncologist last week about soy. She said there is a new study out that showed no difference from a double blind study of bc women and soy estrogens, and if I wanted soy sometimes, go for it. I don't eat a lot of soy…

tamoxifen rash???
I haven't posted in quite awhile ... but I still jump on and read the posts to try and keep up with how everyone is doing. But ... now it's my turn to ask for feed-back. For the newbies ... I had a lumpectomy, followed by taxol/herceptin ... then radiation ... and now I've been on tamoxifen for several months. I was…

Update
I'm feeling much better. I have not been to the Dr. yet, but I will talk to him & maybe see him just to be safe. I am feeling almost normal, though, which is of course a relative term for us. I'm feeling typical chemo stuff like tiredness, but otherwise I'm okay. Thanks to everyone for your thoughts & prayers! I'll let you…

Happy Happy Day!!
I had to share this with you. As you probably know, my mom was just diagnosed with breast cancer last week, about 2 months after I was diagnosed. Thankfully mom faithfully has her yearly mammograms, because it was caught extremely early. She's going to the same surgeon as I did, and she met with my oncologist this morning…

angiosarcoma
My mom has been recently diagnosed with angiosarcoma of the breast grade 2/3, possibly due to the radiation she received on that breast for a ductal carcinoma treatment 4.5 years ago. She had a lumpectomy followed by radiation in 2004 august. We are worried about her prognosis based on what I read on the web - it pretty…

To flu or not to flu
Flu shots. ...flu season is coming...I've never had a flu shot before, and even declined one whilst exiting the hospital in February. I understand radiation won't effect it, so my radiologist claims. I need to get 'Ye Olde Port" flushed next week anyway and thought I'd ask the hematologist. I was running a slight…

And the News Just Gets Better
Had my first mamo after my dx and all is clear. Woot Woot. Next one is in 6 months. Hugs Donna

I received PET scan results today
My oncologist said my PET scan was clear. However, the radiologist did say there were 2 tiny nodules one each at the bottom of each lung. Nothing to worry about. My oncologist said I would be having a CT scan done in 4 months and he'll take another look. So, I'm satisfied that it was good news. Better to safe then sorry,…

halfway point!
Yesterday was my 3rd of 6 chemo treatments, I'm officially at the halfway mark now. I get 1 more AC treatment then I get 2 T (and i can't remember what that stands for at the moment, taxotere maybe??) treatments. Feeling ok, just tired, a few hot flashes every now & then, upset stomach off & on...nothing one of these pills…
