Having pain at top of spine. Had similar before but didn't last for months. Exercise could be the cause but unsure as very careful at gym. Plus experiencing shortness of breath, age, weight gain (Tamoxifen has caused), or something else. Getting x-rays and scan next week. Hope not wasting everybody's time but would feel…

My trip to the ER
Crying because I can't understand any of this. I had an appointment with my PCP today. (having terrible allergy attacks) I mentioned that I have pain in my chest on the same side of breast cancer. She was concerned and wanted to order a CT scan NOW rather than wait til the end of July for the scan that the onco doc…

Alcohol and ER+ Breast Cancer
The following is from breast surgeon, Dr. Ruddy, Founder and Medical Director of the Breast Service at Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville, New Jersey. She is reiterating what I heard at MD Anderson. I found it very illuminating. "Recipe For Disaster: Alcohol and Estrogen-Positive Breast Cancer As a breast cancer…

fever and splitting headache all day
I called the oncologist 2 hours ago but no call back. Temp going from 99 to 101 depending on forcing liquids. I don't know what they would do about it- does anyone? Don't want to insist on ER if it is going to be something that passes. So sick with this headache...wish I could take something.

Doctors nonchalant after treatment care ...
I apologize in advance for this being so long-winded, but I need to vent. I'm so glad I found this place, didn't even know it existed til today! I was diagnosed in 11/08, stage 2B, ER+, in ductu left breast – because of my Mom’s breast + colon cancer and my large, dense breasts, I underwent a bilateral mastectomy with…

life DOES go on
I was noticing cancer survivors in the Olympics so I did a small search. At least 2 of the USAians are testicular cancer survivors and one of them also had melanoma. I forget which is which but one is a cyclist and one is a swimmer-both male obviously. I just thought it was interesting and a bit uplifting that cancer…

MO appt yesterday, was physically checked out - big decision
Yesterday, had my bi-weekly appointment with my onco. After checking tenderness in abdomen and bones, as well as another UTI, was told it may be time to consider stopping chemo all together. He said it is my decision, my physical condition shows that the chemo does not appear to be working on my bones and getting another…

I feel so proud and free!!
This may not be a big deal to you brave ladies, but it was a first for me. It's so hot, and, since chemo came along, I seem to be hot even when the weather isn't. Since finishing chemo, I'm trying to be better about exercising and trying to lose some of the weight that I have gained. So, this evening I went to the fitness…

Ended up having MRI-guided biopsy-4 hr. ordeal-SHEESH
The area in question was around 6 o'clock--adjacent to the edge of the seroma which has been there for 2 years, just about on the rib. So--it was very, very difficult to image. They could not see it on ultrasound, so I had to be moved to MRI, get an IV started, get a few MRI pix. And then came the positioning for the…

Brand new to this site
Hi! This is my first time ever on a cancer discussion board! I was diagnosed last year a few days before my 45th birthday. Stage 2A (Not in lymph nodes but a 3cm tumor). I had the carboplatin/Taxatere/Herceptin cocktail. Hard chemo ended in Jan, radiation ended in March and Herceptin ends in October. Had a treatment on…

Sleeved UPF SWIM WEAR
I have recently had a Lumpectomy with some Lymph Nodes removed, followed by Radiotherapy. The advice is not to expose the chest and arm area to sun rays for at least a year. We already had a planned holiday in the sun! I looked around for suitable swim wear that was both attractive and suited my purpose. Did not find…

Neuropathy
I have had 2 chemos because of my breast cancer. My doctor wants me to have 4. After the second one, my feet began to give me problems. My "onc" wants me to continue the treatments, but he's lowering the dosage of Taxotere from 140 mg to 115 mg. Does anyone have permanent neuropathy to hands or feet due to chemo? What…

laughs_a_lot HOW IS YOUR EDEMA? (I hope I'm not having a chemo brain moment)..
Hi sweet sister -- Wasn't it you who was having several episodes of edema in the radiated breast? How are you feeling? Have you been getting them again? Wearing bras? As for me, my breast has a mind of its own. I can't wear bras because right away I get a level of edema to act up so I am hanging with my boob out, feeling…

The rads onc said we can start weaning off the decadron next week...yay! I'm kind of afraid to say it for fear I will jinx the trend...I've been on the…

DIY breast form
If you or someone in your family/friends knits, I have put a picture and links for knitted knockers on my expression page. My daughter-in-law found the pattern and made mine. I took camisoles from Walmart and sewed lycra pockets for the knockers. Seems to be working. Maureen
