Need emotional help dx w/tnbc
I only turned 40 last November and was dx with tnbc back on 6/28/12, and I am going through a really hard time. I have done all my research and know what is ahead of me, but I find it hard to plan for the future when I don't know if I will have one or not. According to my surgeon I am a clinical 2/3 cat 3. MRI and CT scan…

hesters blog brain mets
Brain Mets 8/2/2012 (1:01:50pm)Tags: noneComments: (0) I do know this is a terrifying topic, but there is actually some "good" news. Most of us are aware the breast cancer can spread to the brain, that some breast cancers (most frequently those that are Her2 positive or triple negative) are more likely to do so, and that…

The sweetest gift I ever received.
I haven't been volunteering at our local animal shelter since diagnosed in May 2012. My friends just brought me a present. Apparently over the course of weeks they saved any fur that was groomed off of the rescue dogs, laundered and dried it in the sun, packed it in zippered bags and stuffed a pillow with it. On the…

tamixofin = thirst and frequent urination?
I starated Tamixofin as well as Vitamin D supplements a week ago. Since then, I've been up nightly having to urinate at least hourly and extremely thirsty. Has anyone had experience with this? Is this a common effect of the Tamoxifin and/or Vitamin D? I've taken Advil PM to help me sleep in the past, but the teaching sheet…

MRI biopsy positive--please help me with what to ask surgeon tomorrow
Well, I was crying for myself before I read dear Carol's post, then crying with her, now crying for both of us. Just got a call from my surgeon's nurse--MRI-guided biopsy done last week is again positive for invasive ductal carcinoma. I'm numb. I've been on Faslodex injections and Zometa infusions since January when they…

Changes in skin after chemo and radiation
Since I've completed chemo and radiation, my face, forehead, and neck have a rash that I cannot get rid of. The dermatologist says its exzema. Usually something helps with exzema, but nothing is helping with this. I don't use soap b/c I have sensitive skin. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks for your help.

Hello everybody, I am new here. Was diagnosed with breast cancer a month back. Had a lumpectomy. triple negative. Starting chemo tomorrow. I am a dentist. I was wondering if I can work through the chemo atleast part time or it is better to stop working for sometime as it could be stressful. My treatment schedule is 4…

insomnia, Ambien, and brain rads, mother-in-law...
The decadron is driving me crazy...I get about 3-4 hours of sleep a night. A little bit when I go to bed, awake through the middle of the night, then a little sleep again around 4 or 5 am. The doc prescribed Ambien, but it scares me. One of the possible side effects is sleep walking...and the brain rads are starting to…

Cried like a baby.
Well, I finally started back on chemo yesterday but I'm so embarrassed for myself. I cried most of the way there and when I got there I found a recliner by a window in the corner of an area that nobody else was in yet. I sat down and the tears just kept pouring out. I don't know when was the last time I felt so alone. The…

warning...I'm gonna whine
I HAAATE decadron! I've only gained 4 pounds on the scale, but my stomach feels so bloated and fat ALL the time. I'm eating even when I'm not hungry, eat to the point of feeling simply gross. I'm having muscle cramps in my hands, feet, and legs. On one level, the decadron makes me feel totally anxious and jittery. I'm…

Dr gave this advice for watering sore eyes during chemo:
She asked if I were taking eye drops when my eyes were sore and watering. I told her I did try to use Visine and it burned so much. She said, NO! don't use that because it is a saline solution...use the gel type that contact wearers use. I think she mentioned Oasis, but said any of the brands in the contacts section of the…

Nightmare of a day!
Well, the good news is I got my port today but I feel like I had to really work for it. I was told to be there at 11:00 AM for a 1:00 PM precedure. If you recall, I insisted on getting it placed by an Interventional Radiologist. The trouble started when the nurse had to put in the IV. She was "lazy" and decided to start…

Thank you kindreds!! I feel so loved and special.
When I got home yesterday, there was a box waiting on my doorstep. Our dear Ayse STUFFED that box...two lovely angels one for me and one for Abby, a book and CD's (which I'll save for chemo), a journal, blinged out keychains, two soft cute hats in colors I needed, a water bottle to stay hydrated, and a beautiful tote bag…

OUCH!!!
Every time I tried to figure out what to put down as the subject of this discussion I came up with expletives that would get me flagged so I decided to just say ouch. The Ixempra is really kicking my butt. I had bone and joint pains with the previous chemo but this is magnified by at least ten. I wish they would put me in…

Having pain at top of spine. Had similar before but didn't last for months. Exercise could be the cause but unsure as very careful at gym. My trip to the ER
Crying because I can't understand any of this. I had an appointment with my PCP today. (having terrible allergy attacks) I mentioned that I have pain in my chest on the same side of breast cancer. She was concerned and wanted to order a CT scan NOW rather than wait til the end of July for the scan that the onco doc…

Alcohol and ER+ Breast Cancer
The following is from breast surgeon, Dr. Ruddy, Founder and Medical Director of the Breast Service at Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville, New Jersey. fever and splitting headache all day
I called the oncologist 2 hours ago but no call back. Temp going from 99 to 101 depending on forcing liquids. I don't know what they would do about it- does anyone? Don't want to insist on ER if it is going to be something that passes. So sick with this headache...wish I could take something.

Doctors nonchalant after treatment care ...
I apologize in advance for this being so long-winded, but I need to vent. I'm so glad I found this place, didn't even know it existed til today! I was diagnosed in 11/08, stage 2B, ER+, in ductu left breast – because of my Mom’s breast + colon cancer and my large, dense breasts, I underwent a bilateral mastectomy with…

life DOES go on
I was noticing cancer survivors in the Olympics so I did a small search. At least 2 of the USAians are testicular cancer survivors and one of them also had melanoma. I forget which is which but one is a cyclist and one is a swimmer-both male obviously. I just thought it was interesting and a bit uplifting that cancer…
