Grateful to be alive!
It's a beautiful day in Green Bay. The sun is shining and it's supposed to be in the 60s. I think our long winter is finally over about a month earlier than usual. I was outside with Spunky (my little Maltese) this morning and I realized how happy I am and then I felt guilty for feeling happy. Do other cancer survivors…

Just beginning this journey
Recent biopsy results confirmed Grade 2 adenocarcinoma. Met with surgeon and hysterectomy scheduled April 4 with vaginal extraction, robot removal of two seminal nodes. Both surgeons fairly confident that treatment plan likely will include follow up monitoring or perhaps radiation. Possible, but not expected, chemo.…

chemo #5, no taxol today
I had good blood results yesterday, but doctor said no taxol today because of my feet. He said he wanted to skip it today and see if the neuropathy gets better by next time. I really begged him but he said it would not make a difference in my prognosis. He also said the only other thing he would consider would be switching…

Chemo #6 Completed
I have just completed 6 treatments of Carboplatin and Taxolplatin and have had only a slight reduction in the nodules in my lungs. The doctor wants to try two more rounds. One oncologist wants me to stop after that and the other more experienced oncologist thinks I could go on trying to get rid of the nodules. Has anyone…

Megace
Ok, new tactic for 2nd recurrence of uterine adenocarcinoma - mets in the lungs - was ordered today. My background: total hysterectomy 2008, stage 1c, completed only 3 of 6 rounds of chemotherapy with carboplatin (allergic to Paclitaxel) + 3 rounds of brachytherapy. Mets to lungs in 2011 - lobectomy and resection of left…

Cisplatin in combination w radiation
Hello ladies, I am currently on break from frontline treatment. After my 6 rounds of taxel/carbo (w one transfusion) I felt so beat up I asked my onco team if I could have 4 weeks off, instead of 3, before starting radiation. Since the chemo stays in your system for five weeks after infusion they agreed. When I went for my…

Heading to the doctor tomorrow
It's been a little over five months since my hysterectomy and this morning I found blood. I called my oncologist's office and my chemo nurse called me back. She said it was probably some "granulation" in the vaginal cuff and would have to be cauterized. I FINALLY got my port site healed after how many months and now…

Endo biopsy
I'm hoping you can help give me some insight. My mother in law just told me she needs to get a biopsy done on her endow lining. She said that during routine exam "they saw something they didn't like" and so she needs to get a biopsy done under anesthesia out patient. I'm reading and freaking out that this could be cancer,…

How "bad" is chemo?
I have stage 4 ovarian cancer*, and I start chemo on Friday. I recovered mostly from debulking and hysterectomy (got all visible cancer). I am eating normally, active, and besides some residual tiredness, I feel good. I'm just trying to figure out how much of my "normal" lifestyle I can return to once I start chemo and…

New wardrobe or not?
I've lost almost 35# since I was diagnosed which is really good although when I was lying on the bathroom floor, barfing up my dinner, I didn't think so. Anyway, all my clothes are too big. I usually wear a turtleneck sweater and jeans in the winter so I took my sweaters and, using my sewing machine, turned them inside…

new report out on ovarian cancer
Google, new report out on ovarian cancer. It's heartening to know that they are acknowledging that the clinical trials are fewer than some other cancers, they recognize that ovarian cancer is a makeup of different types of cancer, and it's "diabolical". Also lists high grade serous needs to prioritized. There's hope for us…

ISO
Ok everyone! Time for a search for some of the ladies(and gents?) that have gone MIA. We do not want to intrude or stalk anyone, but we have not head from some of these ladies in some time now! Some of us make contact by CSN e-mail or private e-mail or face book. I do not have a full list of the missing, but if you know of…

What causes cancer?
I've been researching "causes" of cancer and the information is conflicting to say the least. Obesity supposedly causes cancer yet the most obese country in the world, Samoa, with 75% obesity rates, has one of the lowest incidences of cancer. Denmark and Norway are in the top five, higher than the United States, yet Sweden…

Massages?
I wanted to give myself a mini treat (I can't go to somewhere fun right now), so I tried to book an appointment for a simple swedish massage with hot stones at a spa that is connected to one of our large hospitals. They even advertise cancer care as a specialty, and list amoung services reflexology and massage, along with…

Cold Laser for pain
I was talking with a co-worker today about her husband who had what was like flesh-eating disease on his leg for a long time last year. He had significant nerve damage, as you may imagine, and the pain was probably something like what the ladies with neuropathy feel. Today she mentioned that he has been receiving cold…

Driving Miss Norma
I wanted to share a wonderful adventure about a 91 year old woman, who two days after the death of her husband of 67 years learns she has uterine cancer. She declines treatment and hits the road with her son and daughter in law. They've been traveling in an RV for the last six months and Norma is having the time of her…

Will it never end??
I went to my doctor's office today for labs and a blood pressure check. I was there for almost TWO hours. Seems this morning when they came to work their computers wouldn't recognize February 29th and crashed. Then their automatic calling system called people last Friday and told those who had a March 1st appointment that…

DES Babies Besides Myself
I know this is Uterine but was wondering if any of you are DES babies such as myself. You can read more here. http://www.cancer.gov/about-cancer/causes-prevention/risk/hormones/des-fact-sheet I am wondering if this could have contributed to my cancer, not to mention never been able to have a baby myself.
