Update...good news!
Hi Ladies! I am one of those who is not posting all the time, but you are always in my thoughts. I wanted to let you know that my latest labs showed my CA 125 had dropped again to "8", and has gone down consistently for the last 3-4 months. Everyone is optimistic, esp. me! My oncologist and I decided that we can safely stretch the next chemo to six weeks, allowing me to go to Kauai with our son and family lab and chemo free! Am scheduled for a CT scan in early May so we will have an opportunity to test our theory that all is well. In the meantime, my naturopathic oncologist stepped right up and suggested we slip "lo dose naltrexone" into the space where the Avastin was for extra protection. It is actually a mainstream drug that in high doses is used to treat opiad withdrawal. In very low doses, it was discovered that in many cases (50-60%) is results in cancer remission w/in 3-6 months and prevents tumor progression immediately. It is just starting to be used in cancer treatment, but the alternative side of the house is more aggressive in prescribing it so most of the documentation is coming from there. When I asked my oncologist why that was, it was because the clinical trials are so expensive and the drug is very inexpensive, about $15 a mo. There is no profit incentive for the pharma industry to go there. But if you Google "LDN, or Low Dose Naltrexone" there is starting to be a lot of information out there. Also about using Metformin, which I am also on, along with mistletoe injections. My conventional oncologist admits it would be hard to know at this point what, exactly, is causing my good results, but she and I are both pretty sure it is not the Avastin alone. She doesn't want me to change anything!! Also, had a six month checkup with my surgeon who told me she has another patient who is basically taking exactly the same integrative approach I am with much the same results. It's encouraging! I will be off the Boards again as we leave next Friday for Kauai and won't be back until May, but my thoughts and prayers are with all of you each and every day. Hugs! - Helen P.S. The new picture is me with my 7th little grandson!

So happy to hear this news
and that everything is working for you! I have heard of low dose naltrexone to prevent recurrence and in fact was going to ask my (our!) naturopath about it at my next appointment. Have a great time in Kauai! It's a beautiful place.
