Intro--encouragement offered
Hello, everyone! I am new to this board. I was diagnosed with Stage 1 granulosa cell oc two years ago this week. I had a total hysterectomy and three rounds of chemo (5 days/wk, then off for two). I am getting my port out on Thursday. Even though the type of cancer I had has a tendency to return, so far I have been NED. I…

Three Years NED
It has been over three years since I received the glorious news that I was NED. I’m certain it came as a shock to my gyn/onc, who, after my suboptimal debulking from a very aggressive cancer, said I would never achieve remission and would not last a year. I think he wasn’t far from wrong. The time of treatment was an…

Two Year Anniversary!
Exactly two years ago today, I had my last chemo treatment. I've been dancing with NED (no evidence of disease) ever since! I'm not greedy. There's plenty of NED to go around. I hope and pray that NED dances his way into the lives of the women he hasn't met yet and stays with the rest of us. Praying for us all! Kelly

Can someone please speak to me about my Ovarian Cancer concerns?
Hi there, I have been ill for several months, but at least for the past 1 month or so I have been having terrible symptoms and I feel like I'm dying.... I had a TVU done on 11-13-12 and they found a 2.3 cm cyst on my left ovary. It's now March and I have seen 4 different doctors bouncing me around (1 Emergency room doctor…

Thyroid results
Good news. My ultrasound came back negative for any thyroid disease or cancer. I am so happy!! My blood work came back normal too. They think the swelling is a fatty area.

Just Curious - First Remissions
I'm just curious and am wondering how long everyone's first remissions lasted, and if anyone is still NED after first line treatment, how long have you been NED? Thanks!

Taxol & Carbo
Hello All, Has anyone been on the carbo/taxol chemo combination? If so how hard was it on your body? The 1st treatment is 5-7-12. I know that there will be some nausea with decreased appetite. I just wanted to know what else to expect for my mom. We know that each person will have different symptoms to chemo. But a general…

Third Anniversary
Today marks the third anniversary of the call that forever changed my life. It is hitting me harder this year probably because I was in remission for the first two. I have mixed feelings today. Of course I am thrilled to be alive. When I got my diangosis I "assumed" I had a few months to live. I am also in remarkably good…

IP chemo
I am fairly new to this or any message board, but not so new to OC. I was diagnosed in July, 2011, with stage 3c. I had three cycles of good old taxol and carbo then hysterectomy and debunking, then four more cycles of chemo. That got me to NED!!! I went into a clinical trial for a maintenance drug called Opaxio. I got…

Doxil anyone?
Hello ladies, I will be starting a new trial with Doxil on April 1st. Can anyone give me some opinions or insight on how they did on this drug. How long they were on it before they saw results, if any. How did you feel on it? Also your most serious side effects? They tell me to expect some sensitive skin issues mostly,…

Cycloblastin (cyclophosphamide) anyone?
Having had three cycles of Gemzar with good drops in my CA125 unfortunately on the fourth had a rise of 10 percent. So so disappointing! Thought I was onto the right chemo for me. My oncologist has added a daily 50mg tablet of the above to my regime. Wondering if anyone else has had or is having this and would love to hear…

Like the energizer bunny....
This just never seems to end. Ever since the cancer dx in 6/2011, menopause set in with a vengence (went on hrt - so far so good but still so much fatique and aches/pains), then went in for new glasses, Dr. said "freckle" in left eye is not freckle now that it is showing up in right eye also. Went to ophthalmologist, who…

NY Times says only 1/3 of ovarian cancer patients get the best treatment
Must admit, it’s more than a little unsettling to come across articles like this one, which says only a third of ovarian cancer patients are getting the best treatment. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/03/12/health/ovarian-cancer-study-finds-widespread-flaws-in-treatment.html?pagewanted=all I was surprised to read some ovarian…

Ovarian Cancer Survival Better With Intraperitoneal Than IV Chemo
Long-term results from 2 large studies confirm the superiority of intraperitoneal (IP) administration of chemotherapy over intravenous (IV) administration after surgery in patients with advanced ovarian cancer. "We have known for some years that intraperitoneal administration may give superior results...but it is balanced…

What to tell a potential employer and when?
Ok just thought I would throw this out there and see what I got back. My original diagnosis was almost 6 years ago. I was a stage 3C. After 4 months off for surgery and recovery I went back to work and other than chemo days - never missed a day. Well got through chemo then a few months later got laid off. I was fortunate…

Feminine Issues
As some of us know, post menopause brings with it a new set of challenges. I just wanted to share some helpful information I gained from my Naturopath. Coconut oil is a great moisturizer and lubricant, for those private areas. And there is a product sold by Dancing Willow Herbs that restores elasticity to vaginal tissues,…

New to this.....High CA 125
Hello. I am new to this. I am 45 years old. I recently went to the orthopedist with a hip injury. I was positive it was a fracture. Well, no fracture, but I did have a mass in my uterus. I went to see my OB, and because of my past history with severe endometriosis she suggested I have a full hysterectomy. She did some…

High CA125, mass found on left ovary and scared!
I am 41 years old. I had blood tests approximately three months ago, which revealed a CA125 of 33. I made an appointment with my gyno, who repeated the CA125 and now is at 127. I had a vaginal ultrasound the following week, which revealed a cyst inside my left ovary. A doppler was performed and no blood flow to the cyst…

Fatigue
I have been experiencing fatigue some days. I asked the onc if it could be caused by the tumors and she said no based on what she saw in the petscan. So I am thinking it is the Aromasin. On some days I have to lay down after I shower, before I get dressed. Then rest again after I get dressed. I felt this way at the…

Back to work
Last week of April 2012 I went to my company headquarters in Michigan for training. I rented a car from Enterprise, drove from Toronto to Detroit, stayed in Crowne Plaza hotel in Auburn Hills, spent the week in meetings and on May 2nd drove back to Toronto. I was feeling so crappy and bloated on my way home, that I drove…

Anyone had weekly Taxol/Carboplatin treatments for 18 week period?
Greetings, I'm new to CSN. I started IV treatments Jan 7, 2013, no port so far. I'm doing well, just wondering if the effects worsen as time goes on. I fatigue 1-2 days a week enough to stay in bed, but recover fine after that. I also have some skin irritation after treatment on my arms but it seems to clear in a few days.…

Sad sad day
Hi Ladies, Sadness and loss has hit me again. My dear sweet "other" mom has passed away from lung cancer. She fought so very hard and tried everything she could. She never smoked, ever. We all thought she would be okay. She is a second mom to me and the one I turned to this past year after losing my mom. I feel numb and…

My mum had her 1st CT scan back…
