My cancer has come back now for the 4th time. They are trying Doxil (caleyx here in Canada) again. I prevoiusly had that with carbopaltin on the 2nd recurrence and it worked to bring the numbers down that time. Have had the first round of doxil and my numbers have increased by 150. They say don't worry as this sometimes…

How did you do on Avastin?
In July 2012 I was diagnosed with primary peritoneal cancer, which has an identical treatment protocol to ovarian cancer. I underwent 6 months of chemo on Taxol/carboplatin, then just last week had surgery. The surgeon reported no visible cancer, but biopsies showed there still were cancerous cells. So it's recemmended…

Raging Doxil rash!
Hello everyone. That dreaded rash has hit big time, mainly in my bra and belly area!!! It started about 10 days after my 3rd infusion! It's fiery red and painful. I've been using some of your posted remedies including bag balm. I also used some calamine lotion last night, and ice packs. How long does it last? My 4th…

She doesn't have a car, but does anyone have any idea's for…

From Israel with love
Last week flew by so fast. I am back home from Israel. It was glorious and a total sensory overload. Hot sun, turquoise sea, white sand, exotic trees, delicious food, smells of flowers and spices, bright colors, constant background of loud middle-eastern music, even louder overlapping conversations in Hebrew, Arabic,…

I have a lot of spare time on my hands
I decided to calculate who posts more on CSN, men or women and on which boards. To simplify I assumed that all breast and gynecological are women, all prostate and testicular are men and all other boards are 50/50. Results are sorted by number of posts in descending order. Women lead overall 70 / 30. Over third (34%) of…

Proud of mom
My mom (Chris8588) has been such a trooper through this whole thing, words cannot describe how blessed I am to have her as my mother. Watching her go through this has reidrated the fact that she is the strongest woman I know. I would do or give anything to her and I wish she weren't so hard on herself.

Bye Bye Port.....
This morning was my port removal surgery... It took longer to get me ready than it did to do the removal. I am so happy to have it out. Now I don't have to look at it anymore. Not that I will ever forget what I went through last year but at least now I will not have the constant reminder every time I get dressed. It will…

Easter
I do believe in the living Christ and His word. Saying that doesn't make me some super person who can withstand things without falling apart by any means. Had to leave Sunday school class this past Sunday due to crying. Just hits me sometimes. However, if we look at Christs closest followers, his disciples, I'm reminded…

Ladies....I have some bad news about the OC Quilt (and the NOCC)
As many of you know, today was the NOCC (National Ovarian Cancer Coalition) 5K in my area (Dallas/Ft Worth), to raise money for research and awareness for OC. I joined NOCC in early 2010, at the urging of my doctor, who was (and may still be, I'm not sure) on the Board. I walked the full 3.5 miles last year in the rain,…

Didn't someone on here once post that they had appendix cancer?
Last weekend a friend asked me if I was willing to speak with a friend of hers who they had said had OVCA. Anyway, when she had surgery Monday, they realized that it was appendix cancer. Apparently it is very rare, and there are very few specialists for this type of cancer. The family is considering M.D. Anderson or Cancer…

Gift for a Cancer Patient
Me, a 10 year survivor of ovarian cancer (did I mention I had clear cell?) Ever been asked what to give as a gift to a cancer patient? There are so many times a cancer patient has something to celebrate. Let’s start with each day we awake to a new day. Now that’s something to celebrate! How about when we have good results…

Just more of the Same -
So I was diagnosed with stage 3C OVC in 2007. First let me say that I have been very fortunate and have enjoyed a lot of pretty good health and normalcy since my diagnosis. I have an amazing and blessed life. And bottom line - I am still here! Now for the whine - In 2011 after over 3 years of NED my tumor marker began to…
