Path report
My surgery was in October 2016 and i never bothered to read my own Path report. i just trusted my docs and did what they told me. As some of you know i had a run in a couple weeks ago with who i consider a terrible ONC. That led me here and you all all prompted me to get more knowledgeable and invested in my own healthcare…

Going to the doctor next Thursday to start the process of entering the clinical trial. How do clinical trials work? I know that I will be reciving a…

Waiting?
Hi, I had a ultra sound done and they found a 5cm mass on my right kidney, I don't have the official report yet but my Dr. (He's a DO) Told me that it's too small to biopsy but if I wanted he could send me to a cancer specialist but they would tell me the same thing? At this point I'm really confused, I have no idea if it…

Radiation for Stage 4 renal tumors on spinal column
Someone on the renal cancer board suggested a new topic be posted because of interest in metatasis in Stage 4 to the spine. Husband had left kidney removed 8 1/2 years ago at Johns Hopkins, after which he had CT scans yearly all ok. In 2015 a radiologist "overlooked " the fact that a metastasis formed near the spinal…

The Seventh Sneeze
I felt a sneeze coming last night so I grabbed my trusty folded towel, pressed it to my abdomen, and let it happen. It was only a little one, with no follow up. Because sneezing is such a notable event I realised I had sneezed very few times since the surgery. My estimate was seven times. I've also had very few unplanned…

Consequences of long term drug therapy
I've been fortunate enough to have enjoyed success with treatment of my stage 4 cancer. I am so thankful for that. Of course, who knows what the next scan will bring. I know that, too. Drug therapy is a big part of that success. For 3.5 of the last 4 years I've been on either Everolimus, Sutent or Votrient. Currently, I've…

Radiation for Kidney Cancer lesions on Vertebrae
hello group. My mother has kidney cancer and we are terribly scared. A very large tumor about the size of a golf ball was removed (along with the kidney) in June. Kidney Function and Weight
Four months ago I went on a food and exercise plan to lose weight. I've lost nearly 31 pounds. One of the things I did not expect was that my kidney function has improved. I didn't think that was possible. My creatinine went from 1.6-1-9 range, to 1.44. In 4 1/2 years with one kidney I never saw a number under 1.6 no…

dang...another "dab of cancer" - can a squamous skin cancer be from a kidney cancer??
Hi all - I haven't been able to speak directly to my demotologist yet...and tomorrow I am due to leave the country for a new job...but their office called me to say a biopsy of a nagging blister / cut on my finger is Squamous Cell Cancer. I had a Stage 1A RCC 2.5 years ago with a full nephrectomy right side. Has anyone…

How many of us had Physical Therapy after surgery?
I did, prescribed by my surgeon. I think this helped me with post op gas problems and set me well on the way to recovery. I had the same after IL2. I cant believe its not prescribed for everyone. Certainly, if I was starting this journey now, I would ask for it. Thoughts anyone?

Starting out
Hi, I'm a 48 female and I just had a recent complete abdominal ultrasound showing a 16x20x18 mm complex cyst in upper pole of my right kidney with subtle internal echogenicity. I know it's considered small at this time. Dr has ordered a CT scan with contrast. Went for US after complaining of right sided flank pain that my…

2 Trips to the Emergency Room Last Night
My husband went to the bathroom and had a lot of blood last night. This is the first time since the initial day of finding the tumor. We thought that maybe a trip to the ER would be wise since he also felt a bit lightheaded. They called the urologist and he said it wasn't too surprising and since his bloodwork was…

New and pain relief
Over Christmas I went to the ER with pneumonia. One thing led to another after tests an come to find out I have a 3.3 cm growth in my right kidney. They tell me the 'thick septations', etc make it a renal carcinoma. I guess that explains the terrible pain in my side and the few times I have had brow urine. I have spoken…
