An Update
After joining and posting a few questions several months ago, I strangely stopped visiting the site - avoidance? I don't know. I've been in good spirits with some ups and downs. This condition and the effects of treatment are frustrating though. My third and last chemo was January 25, and the final radiation treatment was…

Chemo Pump Question
A friend of the family started chemo this week for tongue cancer that has spread to her lymph nodes. She had mentioned that she was going to be on a pump for 96 hours. I know some of you werre on 5FU for that 96 hours. My friend was on cisplatin for those 96 hours. Has anyone here heard of that? She is going to a local…

How many oncologists does it take to screw in a light bulb?
Just one but get a second and third opinion because the light might not even be burned out and oncologists don't know how to flip light switches.

NED vs. Remission......
.....doc today told hubby that his scans looked good, bloodwork is good, and that he is "in remission". Of course we are thrilled and happy dancing, and thanking everyone for their support on this site! I was surprised that doc used the term "remission" though.....I thought that was more reserved for a Hodgkins-type…

Hubby had scope today - first since ending chemoreirradition for epiglottic cancer 18 months ago. ENT said he saw two areas of "irregularity" on epiglottis. Suggested scoping again in two months. All PETs - last one in November, came out clean in this area. Has anyone else had areas of "irregularity" that turned out ok?…

Again.
The second surgery to try to free up my lung went a lot smoother then the first. I woke up in recovery and was able to go home. I am still quite the popular girl there though; everyone seems to know who I am. It seems to be working and I am breathing better. The chemo has started again. Not as wicked as the first, yet with…

Curious about 2nd round of chemo recommended for NPC
Just curious about what treatment others have received for NPC. I did 33 radiation treatments. They made them a little stronger so I didn't have to do 35. I did my first Cisplatin on the first day of radiation, and then 3 weeks later did Carboplatin for 4 weeks because I had ringing in my ears. I finished up on March 4th,…

Neck disection question
So with the neck disection how does the fluid that has built up drain back down so the swelling will be reduced. It seems like the fluid just moves from side to side and stays under my chin depending on which side I lay on. So if I lay on my left side during the night when I get up the left side of my face is severly…

I was supposed to have my PEG removed on the 21st of this month. I ended up having it removed this past Tuesday morning. Monday night I was made a direct admit into the hospital for a very serious and aggressive staph infection. I had always changed the dressing daily and thought I took good care of it. The docs say staph…

Who's had a good (better?) experience with Radiation/Chemo?
Talked to the oncologist last week about the possible treatment after surgery (weekly chemo (cisplatin) and daily radiation for 6 to 7 weeks)for my supraglottic tumor.
