MOM
Lost my 82-year old Mother on Thursday afternoon. She'd battled MS for 35 years, beginning with a game left leg, then this, and then also that, leading to her being unable to care for herself for the last 8 years. Early in the week she developed a sinus issue, went to the hospital for a night's stay, and the next day…

Having faith
So after a really long hard weekend I had an epiphany of sorts. I am such an organized person who likes to have order and know what is coming that this situation has rocked my world. My husband and I talked a long time yesterday and I know that this is the time I have to let go and give it to God. I have to for the first…

Lump develops during Radiation
My husband undergoes 12 daily session of radiation as of today. But we notice that there is a small lump under his jaw. Is it normal to develop that lump during radiation? the med onco told us that it was due to radation. But my worry is that, will it vanish after completing the radiation? Thanks, Mitch16

Scans
Beginning to get antsy, a little more than usual this time. Will be having CT scans of my neck and chest at Hershey Medical Center on the 14th of September. Doctor's aid said no pet this time just CT's. Some of you know that in May, whilst hospitalized for a irregular heartbeat (had a quad by-pass in 2008) they found a 4mm…

Ups and Downs
I am having trouble with all the emotions I am feeling concerning my husband's cancer. Some days I feel good and hopeful and other days like yesterday I feel so helpless. How have other caregivers and survivors dealt with this issue. It is still so new and the fear of the unknown is even making it worse. I know there are…

Eyesight acuity is shot; hard to focus on anything, even with large fonts. Using nasal-gastric tube. It takes all day for my wife and I to get thru all the medications and…

Buzz has lost his battle
Buzz passed away August 19, at home. I was at his side. His tongue cancer recurred in May and despite palliative chemo, the cancer still grew. He was placed on Hospice a month ago. I want to thank everyone on the forum who helped me through the difficult times during his treatment and illnesses. God bless you all. Karen

Another Peg Tube Question:
I have the long peg tube type with a clamp and it works very well except the skin under where the tube goes in is always raw looking, it bleeds sometimes and hurts but there are no infections. I showed this to the GI doctor and he said it is normal, it just don’t seam right to me. Is it normal to have raw looking skin that…

Neck massage therapy
I read about neck massage therapy here and inquired to my ONC. I had my 1st 40 minute massage this morning and it was delightful. My neck is not nearly as tight or swollen and I actually feel like my speech is better. Insurance is covering it. Thanks to whoever posted about it.

I Need Your Opinions
I'll try to make this short. My regular ENT found my tongue tumor and referred me to the best H&N surgeon in the city. He is the only one to use the TORS too so this was a no brainer. Here is the problem with him treating me. As far as a surgeon, he saved my life. Very skilled and takes his time. He did the partial tongue…

Coping with the ups and downs and all the hurry up and waiting
I am curious how everyone handles the initial diagnosis and then the constant hurry up and waiting. I am having such a hard time with all of this. I guess some would say I'm a control freak, most would agree that I am a bit obsessive compulsive and most who know me would say that if you need something done well call me. So…
