Pain management question
So as some know my husband is diagnosed with Stage IV base of the tongue cancer. He is going in on September 13 to have surgery using the davinci robot. He hates taking pain meds so my question is what pain management strategies have you used. He will start chemo/radiation in 4-6 weeks and may have a neck dissection if…

Help needed
My husband was diagnosed with esophageal cancer at the cervical of his espohagus. This was after being treated for laryngeal cancer(laryngectomy and throat reconstruction 3/2011). PET SCAN COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE, BUT IS NOT GOOD
I had my PET earlier today, and of course it came back worse than I had hoped, but no uptake in my Liver or other soft vascular organs in my abdomen. As expected I had uptake in the 3 nodules in my right lower lobe, and also had uptake in a Lymph Node in the Subcarinal and Right Hilar area. A Transbronchial procedure is…

It seems since I started my journey with the beast we all know that time seems to pass so quickly for me. Tomorrow I will be going for my 3rd PET scan since completing tx last December..I don't know where the time went since the one I had in June. Is it because I'm living my new but different life , does anyone else have…

Here's lookin at you, kid... sort of
Ah, radiation and chemo; the gifts that keep on giving. My ophthalmologist told me Friday that I have 'radiation-induced' cataracts... After a peek at the eyes, he noted that my cancer had most likely been base-of-tongue (correct) and he was seeing the result of radiation scatter. I was a stage 4, with multiple lymph node…

MOM
Lost my 82-year old Mother on Thursday afternoon. She'd battled MS for 35 years, beginning with a game left leg, then this, and then also that, leading to her being unable to care for herself for the last 8 years. Early in the week she developed a sinus issue, went to the hospital for a night's stay, and the next day…

Having faith
So after a really long hard weekend I had an epiphany of sorts. I am such an organized person who likes to have order and know what is coming that this situation has rocked my world. My husband and I talked a long time yesterday and I know that this is the time I have to let go and give it to God. I have to for the first…

Lump develops during Radiation
My husband undergoes 12 daily session of radiation as of today. But we notice that there is a small lump under his jaw. Is it normal to develop that lump during radiation? the med onco told us that it was due to radation. But my worry is that, will it vanish after completing the radiation? Thanks, Mitch16

Scans
Beginning to get antsy, a little more than usual this time. Will be having CT scans of my neck and chest at Hershey Medical Center on the 14th of September. Doctor's aid said no pet this time just CT's. Some of you know that in May, whilst hospitalized for a irregular heartbeat (had a quad by-pass in 2008) they found a 4mm…

So here I am 10 weeks out from rads, 12 weeks out from Erbitux for SCC IV larynx HPV negative. I see my ENT on Friday and should get a schedule for my first PET post treatment. Here's my concern…
