Pronounced pain in elbow joints and shoulder joints lately?
Hey all... In the last month I have noticed pronounced pain (scale of 4-5) in both elbows and the right shoulder. This is new. I have always had hip joint pain since my treatments ended in Jan 2012 but I attributed that to my dramatic weight loss of 70lbs and hip joints just shifting to a different place (and my oncologist…

LOOKING for advise and encouragement
I suppose that I need to take one day a time, and not focus on all the negative reactions that my loving Papi- “T”, he will suffer. How I'll be ready without over panic before he starts his treatment. I wonder if I’ll be ready to support him and give to him the right loving care. I wonder if I’ll have the time to be ready…

When You Least Expect It...
Hi Folks, I'm home. A bit worse off for the wear unfortunately :( Surgery started with a look see around and a larygoscopy. There was a suspicious area in the back of my tongue that warranted further examination. Turns out they took out my lingual tonsils. They're off to the lab along with more BOT biopsies and the tumors.…

Losing touch
I feel like I am losing touch with my CSN friends. Every time I come to the site I am seeing more and more people I don't know and feeling less viable on the site. I miss everyone and feeling like I can contribute. I am now seeing people who started the journey around the same time and shortly after who are now recovering.…

My mother is 73 years old and is recovering from tongue cancer surgery, where they took out 3/4 of her tongue, broke her jaw, floor reconstruction of her mouth and neck dissection. TEP Not Closing
I had a smaller diameter voice prosthesis inserted, with the hopes the hole (TEP) would close down around it. No such luck. I aspirate liquids, and am reduced to using good ol' ThickIt. I guess, one can get used to anything. Finished one month of chemo. Need a CT to see what the chemo did. The next round is in the planning…

Haven't really felt like talking
I am 9 days past my last treatment and continuing what the doc called "the worst two weeks of your treatment", so far he has been right on. Stacey, you nailed it on the head, this hairball is driving me nuts. Today I thought I'd turned a corner, only mild discomfort for most of the day. Now, 7:30 PM and it's back in all…

A side-effect
As some of you may know, I've been dealing with neck spasms on a daily basis for some time, now. New Drs in my life, as my General Practitioner recently retired,…

Polar Ice Caps - the unofficial survey :)
So, how many of us were on line early enough this morning to see the U of Chicago "research" survey briefly posted on the Head Neck forum (until Admin took it down)? The survey supposedly addressed chemotherapy-related alopecia. Upon questioning, the poster admitted to Pat that the real point of the survey was to determine…
