Happy to Hear That I Have a STD - We Now Know the Source
I posted this on my personal blog, thought you folks might have comments on it (sorry for the length): Got a call from my ENT Doctor giving me the laboratory results from the biopsy they took during my surgery. He confirmed that the source of my cancer is the HPV-16 virus. Why is this good news? Because this particular…

PEG tube out today
Finally I got my G tube taken out today. They deflated the balloon and simply pulled the tube out. Just a little discomfort at the end when the deflated balloon exited the stoma. I am very happy. Now I can go about eating food with more room in the stomach and exercise with no hindrance. The nurse said it should heal up…

Update On My Daughter, Johnnybegood
Today she forged her way to Louisville for results of her mid Dec. CT. Unfortunately, the news was worse than expected. As some of you may remember, she was hospitalized several weeks ago for undetermined bleeding & taken off chemo at that time. We expected minute growth in her lung tumos, but they have grown by at least a…

always hope and investigating options
Few of us have the adenoid cystic carcinoma dx. But I was given hope beyond belief from another fighting bone mets. (same dx) I need to ask for a scintigraphy (kind of like a PET scan) it will show any changes in the bones. I was told with our dx, I should be able to avoid anymore biopsies to confirm mets. (what a relief…

Post Radiation Question
My husband finished his radiation treatments for throat cancer on 12/24/13 (yay!) and we were advised it would get worse before it gets better. However, I think we were both hopeful that we would see a little improvement 10 days post radiation. I know that everyone is different, but those of you that have been through…

thick mucous
OK, it has been over 2 years since Jim's treatment ended and he still has thick sticky mucous which is worse at night. This causes him to choke when he takes pills or tries to eat anything. The thing that cuts it best is Gatoraid but he has to use it all day and half the night. Is this something others are going through…
