I was dx 22mos ago. I'm stage IV with mets to the liver and celiac lymph nodes. Systemic chemo has failed me each time (although my only chemo breaks have been for surgeries) and I'm running out of chemo options. Currently I'm on Avastin and Xeloda, with occasional mitomycin. Here is a portion of what is posted on my blog…

Fingernails
I was just wanting to know if anybody has lost their fingernails to chemo? My nails around the cuticles are real "rosy" and tender. Does that mean I'm going to lose my fingernails or is it something I should bring up to the onc on Monday because it isn't normal? Did anybody have their hands and feet peel while going…

God and Cancer
I realize that what I am about to say will not be a popular view on this site, but I feel that it is my job as a Christian to say it. Seems as though religion has been a huge topic on this board lately. I am always amazed at how two words could stir up so much controversy… GOD & JESUS. Anytime those words are mentioned,…

Where do we go from here......
Hi all, It has taken me a while to come to grips with this.... Last Monday my husband went into the hospital to have a liver resection done. They opened him up, removed one tumor attached to the diaphragm/liver. They then checked out the lung and found numerous tumors on the right lung. They left the 2 tumors in his liver…

declotting port
Well I went to the hospital today to get the port declotted. They flushed it and then put the clot buster drug in, I had to wait 1 hour, and then they tried putting in saline. That works, but when they try to draw blood nothing happens. SO they administered the drug a second time. Waited another hour and tried again. Same…

Colon Gone! Still Here!
I've had 3 major surgeries and 2 rounds of chemo. 35 days in ICU and people was making my funeral arrangements before I could say goodbye. Now after 5 years, I can say it's still haunts me and I wonder if it's going to go anywhere else in my body. So what do you do about it? Do you worry? Do you loose sleep over it or do…

Fatigue
Hi I have not posted in a long time. The last time I had a chemo treatment was in late Feb 2009. I had been on several regimens since Feb 2007 when I was diagnosed. My last regimen was irinotecan and xeloda from Nov 2008 until I stopped in Feb 2009. Avastin was also supposed to be included but I kept having severe…

An Apology to Seena
Dear Seena, If you come back to the boards I hope you see this. I am sorry for any hijacking I did on your thread with my silly shenanigans. It was disruptive and disrespectful of your post. Reading usakat's thread chastised me (in a good way) to be sensitive to your post and I was not as apparent by butting in there with…

something sorta "bumpy" right on top middle of stomach...[UPDATE]
Hello again, My mom had her 2nd chemo about 12 days ago, the 3rd one coming this upcoming Monday...anyways right after her 2nd chemo, she started having abdominal pain (pain threshold like 3 out of 10) and it went away so doc/us assumed it is due to the 5FU she was attached to and side effects. Its been 12 days, this…

Had to share!
Hi All! I know it isn't relevant to this board, but I just had to share that my big sister finished her icky chemo today for her breast cancer. Yay! She has had chemo, surgery, chemo, and is scheduled for radiation and 1 year of herpecin plus anti-hormone tx. She was crying for joy even though she was about to fall down…

Diversity
Ok, I can't stand it anymore. I've tried to stay out of the controversy and post positive things on other threads but this just won't die down. I'll admit that I'm weird. I LOVE it when people disagree with me. It makes me think. It changes my opinion. It makes me a better person. I like to see religious posts, regardless…

physical and emotional scars
For some reason I'm having a hard time dealing with the after effects of my cancer treatment. My last treatment was Oct 07. I am cancer free but I am not happy with my body image. I am also reminded every day of my cancer because of my bathroom issues from my reversal. I just want the scars to be gone and no more pain or…

Not eating
I've taken Oxaliplatin, 5FU, Avastan, and Leucovorin for eight treatments. After the sixth treatment I have not able to eat. I can drink Ensures and broth, but I can't eat anything with any substance. This has gone on for nine weeks. Has anyone else had this problem after taking this combination. The doctor said it is not…

Tears and Joys
For some reason, today has been a day of tears. I feel lucky/blessed in my journey, but I am really struggling today with the feeling that this is truly a war we are fighting. We have lost people we admire and love and we are all still fighting as hard as we can. I had my port flushed on Thursday and ended up in tears…
