I am sure this happens a lot
Hello! I have a child with different medical needs so I am well versed in how medical message boards work, and I hate to be that person who doesn't have a diagnosis and is panicked, yet here I am! I am going in for a colonoscopy and an endoscopy next week. I am absolutely frightened. I can't even think straight. I know the…

Recently diagnosed
Hi folks, I'm Peter and I've been recently diagnosed with colon cancer. I'm still waiting for the pathology results from the lab to find out what stage. The Doc who did my colonoscopy told me that there was a growth too large to remove and he was confident it was cancer. A well informed hunch that he confirmed by telephone…

WThere is a new blood test that has been developed by a SF Bay Area Company DiaCarta, Inc. (www.diacarta.com) called ‘ColoScape’ that has undergone a pilot study in Naples Italy and it looks very promising for the detection of early cancer. The company is planning a USA based clinical trial very soon.

Chemotherapy forever - stabilizer??
Has anyone's oncologist ever said that they will probably be on chemo forever - part of daily existence to keep the cancer at bay. Is that possible - is cancer a manageable disease? Kind of like they treat diabetes, etc... Any thoughts??

What is remission?
I just read an article about a guy who says he's in remission from leukemia. What does that mean? Is it the same as NED? Or can they tell that the cancer has slowed down and is not advancing? I don't see how anyone can be in remission. So often it's just a matter of they haven't found it yet. Like NED, no evidence of…

Just found out I dodged a bullet
I went for my after surgery appointment today. It turns out they did find cancer in my small intestine. They removed it and took out 8 lymph nodes of which 0 had cancer. We had no idea it was there and, if I hadn't had the fistulas and the surgery we'd have probably never known until it was too late. I feel like I won the…

Boswellia (Frankincense)
This is a supplement I had not heard of until I visited a spine specialist and she mentioned it is effective for joint pain as well as having anti-cancer properties. My colonoscopy doctor was adamant that other than a baby aspirin, I not take NSAIDs, which makes dealing with back and joint pain even more difficult. I have…

They've reconsidered
Considering that my tumor has tripled in volume in 6 months, my dr conferred with other specialists, and the decision was made to move my next scan up to 4 months (January) instead of 6, with the understanding that surgery would likely follow. It's time to get this nasty out. It's been 2 years since my last surgery, and…

No Mo Chemo...For Now
Yesterday was a wierd day. I had formally been told that I might have to take the maintenance chemo indefinitely but my oncologist decided that since I was NED and all my numbers looked good, he didn't want to risk kidney damage that can be caused by the Cyramza. So, whoop whoop, I'm done for now. Unfortunately because I…

Mixed reviews!?!?!?
Wow not exactly how I wish a doctor would describe my husbands mets. But it was the exact words the surgeon we saw used! I left in tears despite going in knowing that he would be told not surgical.
