WAR
"Flags, medals, wigs, and prosthetics are not enough to convey the truth or mobolize human beings to dessent, resist, and demand the end of war, the cure for cancer, AIDS, and so many other mutant offspring of capatalism. The devil is not in the details, but in the abscence of details that would activate the people to…

Dizziness & Dehydration
Let me preface this by saying I will eventually call the on call nurse and see what she says, but I want opinions here first. I’ve had excessive thirst now for 36+ hours. It’s not been hot where I live, not have I participated in any even moderate activities. I’ve also had some insomnia issues for several days, likely…

Having a panic attack
I am sitting here waiting to meet my new oncologist. I should be happy that I am now at MSK where there might be more treatments to choose from but instead of being happy I am all of a sudden terrified.

Round One And It SUCKS
I made the two hour drive to the mountains after disconnecting from the pump yesterday. I was noticeably fatigued yesterday and I had to talk myself thru the drive, picking up a few groceries and never thought I would make it into the house. But, I did. I have to turn around and head back on Monday but these few days at my…

Really good news
which I am happy about for now, because I know it can all change in an instant. After 2 years of being really sick, 5 years at stage 4 right now my husband is showing NED and all his blood work is normal, except one liver enzyme due to his stent in his liver. The narrowing in his ducts are just narrowing and it looks like…

Port Coming OUT Wednesday...Yipeeeeeee!!!!!
I saw my surgeon yesterday and I will have my port removed Wednesday. He told me he would seal it with glue instead of stitches so I don't have to hang around another few days to get stitches out. I can hit the road Thursday morning and wont' be back until July. I can't find words to describe how it feels knowing the port…

Sun Shining A Little Brighter
I had my appointment this morning. When I went to have my blood drawn for labs, the nurse and I had our normal chat. I told her my decision to stop chemo and remove my port. She told me her husband made her promise if he ever was diagnosed, (she's older) that she would not try to push chemo on him. She said she wonders some…

Checking In
Hello all! It looks like I'm cancer free for now. I had a colonoscopy last week which had to be done twice. If you already had cancer they want to get a real good look around on follow up exams. On the first try they stopped and said I wasn't clean enough even though I drank the Galvylite and followed the instructions.…

New Pump Design and Smaller Needle
When I got my infusion yesterday, they had switched to a new set up. The pack they sent me home with looks like a little lemon juice container and it goes into a much smaller carry bag. Also the needle into the port was smaller in size and it fit so much closer so it wasn't so bulky. I have never had any pain with…

Virus to treat cancer?
It's early days but this sounds promising. Ties in to my belief that it will be a virus that kills it due to the people who have suddenly come up cancer free for no reason and to the fact that people who have illness and infections after treatment have a lower rate of recurrance.…

New Doc Weds and hopefully to MUSC in Charleston
Not sure I mentioned that I requested a referral to Medical University, it is in process and I could have an appt as soon as next week according to them. Hoping for some flicker of hope that they have some clinical trial or something that could help me. I am not going to go crazy demanding to take anything and everything,…

colorectal tumor grew while on folfox and avastin
My husband was diagnosed last October with colorectal cancer that metastisized to the liver. He has finished 12 rounds of Folfox and when the scans came back we found out that the colon tumor has grown but the liver tumors have shrank. Is this common? They have now prescribed 6 rounds of Folfiri and radiation. Has anyone…

Tick...Tock..Tick...Tock
I try to be as real with this journey as I can be. I have never struggled so much in my life. I guess doing the chemo to shrink the tumors for surgery initially was something I accepted due to my liver involvement and the size of the tumors. The chemo did not actually affect the liver tumors much at all. The path report…

cancer stage & cea level --any correlation? (newbie question)
Hey all, I just had a colonoscopy on Thursday... which found a "rather large" tumor. My GI said right away he was sure it was cancer. Only trouble is... now its the weekend, doctors are out, but lab results are coming in (through MyChart). I saw my CEA level was 18.2.... Is there any correlation to what stage cancer that…

Severe burning
My husband was diagnosed with colorectal cancer. He was border line between late stage two and early stage 3, so they treated it as stage 3. He had a chemo, radiation, surgery and a temporary colostomy bag, then surgery to reverse it, and was hospitalized 3 times between the two surgeries for blockages due to scar tissue.…

Neuropathy issues
Since finishing FOLFOX, I’ve had some mostly annoying neuropathy symptoms. My fingers and toes tingle if they touch anything and sometimes the skin feels tight, like when you have a healing sunburn. It’s not truly painful and it doesn’t wake me up at night. However, it does make doing things with my hands difficult, as the…

Mop-Up Chemo Started
Happy Tuesday everybody! I am sitting in the chair, hooked up and listening to the IV pump do its' thing. I hate this beyond any words I have to describe but I am going to give this all I've got. I drove in from the mountains yesterday to my daughter's and got settled in. My four rambunctious grandsons kept me occupied…

Post Y-90 scans are in!
Well, we can now breath a little. The Y-90 really did help! Several tumors in his liver are dead and the rest have all shrunk by over half. He will have another scan in July and that will determine if the colon tumor should be removed or not. The colon tumor is stable for now, the chemo pills are not shrinking it, but at…

Mother newly diagnosed. Don't know stage..yet...
My mother has been going through her bit of health issues, which we thought were just hemorrhoids. This all started last summer. She had a colonoscopy done in August 2018 and it just noted she had hemorrhoids and nothing else. Well, mid-February 2019 she gets her annual physical done. Bloodwork notes she's anemic and she…

Seeking your guidance please. My partner was recently diagnosed with Stage IIIB Colorectal Cancer. He has now been told to begin chemotherapy within 4 weeks of surgery for 6…

What's your favorite Colostomy Bag?
My partner recently had a total colectomy and is now trying to find the best colostomy bag. He is mid thirties and thin, and found the Coloplast Sensura Mio 2-piece system to be too bulky and not sticking very well. He did like the velcro-fold up at the bottom though. Opinions welcome to help us find the best bag for…

Targeted Therapy at MD Anderson
I traveled to MD Anderson the begining of April and just got home in time to spend Easter Day with my family. This is the 4th time I have tried typing this post, it gets messed up and then disappears when I'm trying to edit. So this is the short version. I met with Doctor Tsimberideau in the Targeted Therapy Center, she…
