Haven't heard from you in a while and just wanted to know how you are doing. Have you had anymore updates on pathology or any recent doctor appointments? If you are still here lurking on the boards, we just would like to know how you are feeling as you went through a lot of surgery. Continued healing. Kim

Cancer come back?
I had surgery for colon cancer 4.5 years ago with no chemo or radiation, and my CEA's and labs show no problems. However, I have had an umbilical hernia repaired with the cancer surgery, and several months later a ventral hernia repair, both with synthetic mesh. I am having a CT scan tomorrow for possible adhesions or…

Pain in port
I had my port flushed yesterday. It had been about 8 weeks or so since it was done. I have not had chemo since the end of December so it does not get used. Today I feel an ache where the port goes into my artery in my neck. It’s almost like twinges. So it doesn’t really hurt, just is kind of throbbing. Has anyone else had…

Lyrica and gabepentin
I had fairly extreme neuropathy issues after my 2nd infusion of oxalyplatin...constant stinging, particularly in my hands. Some of the kind souls on this forum told me to make sure, not just the nurses knew, but that the doctor knew. Infusion 3 they took it down 20% and the neuropathy got worse. I said no more, onc agreed.…

As They Say ... Side Matters (Left vs Right Side Colon Cancer)
Seems that those in left side do better than right side. I am right sided :( But doctor told me my location was usually a good one in terms of position and prognois. https://www.statnews.com/2016/05/18/colon-cancer-side/

No Regrets
My profile pic is from an outing with my "boys" this past Friday to a beautiful park near my home. We hiked and then spent the day swimming at the base of a waterfall. I couldn't help but think how this moment would never have happened had I continued with mopup chemo. I would have been too sick and weak or worse yet,…

Chemo costs
We meet with the oncologist tomorrow but I'm just curious what chemo and raditon cost. We do have insurance through my work. I know everyone's costs are different, but a ball park. Also, we are going to have to switch to the affordable health care insurance inAugust. Does anyone have insurance through them ? Is it good ?…

The Problem with Statistics
An accepted philosophy on this board, and one that I endorse, is, “I am not a statistic.” I came across this study (link) a few months ago, and it stuck with me, but I was really not sure why. But with some further thought, it demonstrates that simple statistics can be misleading. As a preliminary matter, let me say that I…

My angel at the cancer support meeting
I went to our local cancer support group meeting tonight and we always try to have an agenda. This time it was talking about 'green sleeves'. I don't know if this is a Canadian thing, an Alberta thing, a general medical thing, or what. It involves a plastic envelope with green borders that holds a bunch of our medical…

Dreams you'd given up because of cancer?
I'm feeling down today and focusing on this and I'm wondering if you all have the same feelings, too, sometimes. I'm not living my best life and giving up my dreams has been so hard. I'd hoped we'd live in the country again and I'd have my horse with us. But now I can't work and that will never happen due to money issues.…

Liver Resection-Twinges and Tightness..
After having both the colon resection and liver resection done at the same time, I think I have been recovering exceptionally well. The surgery was in February and I am just a couple of months out. I was wondering if the tightness and twinges will eventually fade or is it something you learn to live with for the rest of…

Cologuard Positive
I took one of the Cologuard at home tests. I had been seeing an older family doctor who retired recently and went in for my annual checkup to his replacement, a young woman of about 30. I had been getting negatives on the fecal blood tests he'd been having me do. The new Doc really pushed the ColoGuard test so I had it…
