Bad but not as bad as I expected. Increased activity in liver mets and new lymph activity in abdomen. The doc is talking about clinical trials but I am going to md Anderson. Time to run with the big dogs now. The positive side is that it has not spread to lungs and there are no new lesions but the ones that are there have…

What the heck does this mean?
I was reading my CT scan and came across this.... "Heart is enlarged and coronary artery calcifications are present". Am I on my way to a heart attack now? No one mentioned this to me so maybe it is no big deal but if any of you have seen this, can you let me know what it means. I emailed my Dr's nurse but I thought I…

Pancreas?
I have an answer, which is no definitive answer, after my PET on Wednesday. I'm tired of being "unusual." Everything that lit up before on scans is gone. Nothing in the usual suspect places - liver & lungs are clear. But my pancreas lit up. I have a fever and stomach pain, so the hopes are that I have pancreatitis. Odds…

Nerve damage from Colon resection
I have had a persistent numbness in my right hand and my left thigh and groin since surgery (April 2009). The doctors at first said it was from the placement on the operating table (8hrs long) and may subside. Many months later and I still have the numbness. I think they damaged some nerves during the surgery and cannot…

Oncologist in the Bay Area?
I have a friend who is currently undergoing Folfiri for Stage IV CC (just like me) and is unhappy with her oncologist. She is new to all this and not a message board type, so I thought I would ask y'all. Is there anyone out there in the Bay Area that has an oncologist they can recommend? Also, what are the major cancer…

Insurance Frustration
Hi, I just returned from San Francisco today. Went over on Monday for a physical, tests and such while waiting for Ins. Co. approve my clinical trial procedures. There was only a few days window to start the trial otherwise wait a month. Waiting is not what I do best, especially when I know my little tumors are growing. My…

Not 1 node - 17 out of 19 ugh
Hi Friends, Well **** met with Dr. Lenz today (my mom was with him) and the good news is they tested 4 areas and 3 of them were cancer free. However, there were numerous lymph nodes involved 17 out of 19. In the report is said something like they were 15% active. They were all clustered together and the surgeon thinks he…

my daughter- updated- good news!
I didn't mention this in my other "fainting post", but we've also had a recent scare with our 10 year old daughter. About a week ago, Allison asked me "What do you think this weird bump on my leg is?" It's on the lower back side of her knee on the left leg. It feels about walnut sized and is very hard. Of course, my…

Oral FUOX (Xeloda?) vs. IV 5-FU
I'm new to this site and wondered if anyone had advice re: treatment with oral FUOX (is that Xeloda?) vs. IV 5-FU as a post-operative treatment for Phase IV rectal cancer. I've had rectum removed and liver resection and am getting ready to start adjuvant therapy. My oncologist says the two are equivalent in terms of…

Next weekend
After reading the terrible news about Pat today I wondered if we could have a roll call on Memorial Day weekend for all the members we've lost in the last year? I hope it wouldn't scare any new people, but for all they've helped we should remember these people at least once a year. We could also add friends and family that…

It's Been A While **Update**
It has been a month today since I posted with the news that my husband (CB) was told that his latest, and probably last chemo hope didn't work, and that he had a few weeks to a few months to live. Although we were understandably devastated, we continued on, making sure that he still met with his oncologist and regular…

What Would the Title of my Book Be?
The title of a book is so crucial in order to capture the reader’s attention. I’ve listened to what you have all said – I thank you for thinking enough of me and having confidence that I might could pull something like this off. On more than one occasion, I have received posts from you telling me that I should write a…

Chemo resistance
10 years ago my father had colon cancer/colon surgery. After several surgeries due to complications he was left with a colostomy. In March he was diagnosed with liver cancer and lung cancer that met from the colon cancer. the onc has given him 6months to live, with no other treatment options other than systemic chemo. He…

SAD
I don't mean the Standard American Diet either. I KNOW that I am guilty of this at times too, but many of us attack each other way too much. Face it, we have/had cancer (or are caregivers) and we EACH HAVE A DIFFERENT STORY. How much HELP are we actually giving any NEW people who happen to come here? Isn't that WHY we post…

A Very Fond Farewell
This is just a short note to let you know that I'll be taking an extended break from the boards. I've got some projects emerging and am hopefully returning to work later this summer. In the meantime I've got a few weddings to plan for and the occasional memorial to do. I'm also looking at facilitating a "Late Stage Cancer…
