Hi, i'm new here and my mother was diagnosed last November with stage 4 colon cancer. Her cancer has spread to her ovaries, and a spot on her liver. She has had a colon resection, they didn't remove the tumor because it was too large at the time. Since January she has had chemo with Avastin every 3 weeks and also the chemo…

Sundanceh
Today I spent some time in reflection, and I thank my Supreme Being, for allowing me to know you, to respect you, to follow in your mighty big foot steps. You give hope, longevity in a short cancer world. You fight, and you fight long and hard. You let cancer know it won't win. You knock it down, and when it rears it's…

Bloody nose and sinuses
For the last week (since the day after my last FOLFOX infusion - and yes, I like to blame everything on chemo - helps me to keep a positive attitude that there is an end in sight) I have had a bloody nose. It started out a lot less and has been getting more over the last couple of days. - Just mostly when I blow my nose.…

Just wanted to let everyone know I’m still here, and I’m still proud of all of you.
I’m very proud of everyone here, and particularly of people like Sundanceh who continues to be an inspiration to all of us. I try to post every now and then just to let others know that there is hope for all of us. If I can make it so can you. So, never give up hope. Keep on fighting, like Sundanceh and the rest of the…

Oh man....not again
Bobby, Your post got deleted. I hope it didn't have anything to do with my response. I hope you got a chance to read it. I think the only thing that gets people heated up more than mentioning religion on the board is when I mention all the religions at once. If spirituality and religion have helped you combat cancer, we…

Brant
Just wanted to let y'all know that Melissa posted on Brant's caringbridge site, and it just about broke my heart. It's hard to believe, but it's been almost a year since he's been gone. Melissa shared how wonderfully Will is like Brant, and she also shared her raw pain. Thought y'all would like to remember her and Will…

Offending People
It has been brought to my attention that this forum is not the location for talking about religion or at least not making folks feel like I am pushing religion upon them. This is certainly not the case and if I offended anyone it was not my intention. As a Christian man fighting stage 4 colon cancer I find great comfort…

Yikes hair!!!
OK, so I've read that hair thinning (up to 50%) can be part of FOLFOX. Last treatment (#2) I really starting to notice hand fulls of hair. So, I starting only washing my hair once or twice week and using hair spray to try and glue my hairs together to keep them on. I have really fine (not thin ... but skinny - baby fine)…

Made me mad
I was watching the Today Show this morning, the one where Hoda and Kathy Lee are on. I think they were discussing Michael Douglas, I do know it was about someone who had cancer. I was only halfway listening until Kathy Lee made a statement that I hear often from people who have not had cancer: "Yeah, attitude is…

I will catch hell for this post
Bobby, I will raze your Matthew 17:20 with a John23 telling me to eat weeds along with a damn good fart from my buddy Brooks. On top of that I will let Gail get pissed off about anything she damn well wants to. I will even listen to folks that want me to put coffee up my butt. I listen to the folks that love juicers mix…

Docs are not even treating his cancer because of all of the problems. I was about…

TSA and ports and bags
I thought I would share this information. My mother has a port and her doctor asked if she was flying for the holiday because she probably would not pass through without any issues. He advised her to keep her medical card and bracelet with her to make sure she could advance through security.

Not a colorectal diagnosis but colorectal treatment??
My dad is 54 years old, Never been sick a day in his life! He was diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) which is a form of primary liver cancer. He has had surgery in may, follow up scancs in august which revealed recurrence in the liver. We started a clinial trial in october which involved 2 oral chemo agents. Our…

Is this place a place to mention God??
Wow I am really shocked at how some people have attacked me after I posted some scriptures. The subject line clearly showed the post was about religion. If you are a person who does not believe in God and this I totally respect then why would you even open up the post? We all have the God given ability to post what ever we…

New to the boards.
New to the boards and thought I would finally say hello to a community I never wished to ever be part of. Having said that, it is what it is and now it's time to make the best of a bad situation. My wife (33 years old) was dx in September of this year with Stage IV adenocarcinoma with 7 FDG avid lessions scattered…

DIET QUESTIONS
Just wondering what people have read or heard about what foods are good for helping us beat back this cancer. I want to do all I can to help myself defeat my cancer. I plan on doing this 18 supplemental flush when I finish my chemo in January as the oncologist thought it best to wait till then. A friend of mine has stage 4…

Need your help/advice
My father passed away Saturday after fighting colorectal cancer for 7 years. We are getting requests for where to send donations. We would like the money to go to a foundation that supports patient advocacy, especially for colorectal cancer if possible. Dad always felt so lucky that his insurance coverage was so helpful…

Out of the Snow and back to the Sunshine
Arrived in Seattle, to find a winter (LOL love it when I can say that) wonderland awaited us. Ahhh, the sweet gentle fall of the snow flakes, had to stick my tongue out and catch a few. By night, it was 9 inches of snow in Sequim. I YI YI!!! What fun, indeed. It took 6 hours to do a 2 hour trip via bus transportation. (I…

Appetite question?
Has anyone experienced a huge difference in their appetite? For the last week chris has no appetite and says he always feels full. When he does eat he feels sick and bloated. Also he is always tired and fatigued. NO motivation. Not sure if this is something to worry about and I hate to always call his ONC. they prob think…
