Chemoablation for liver mets
Hi everyone, I'm new to the discussion forum. I have questions about chemo-ablation for liver tumors. My dad had rectal cancer 3 years ago. The cancer has now metastasized to the liver. He was unable to have the tumors cut off because he has cirrhosis of the liver. He is going to be meeting with a doctor that does…

First Xelox and third drain
Hi All, I went for my first Xelox tx. I've never been so glad to take some pills as I was to take the Xeloda. My belly was huge again from the ascites, to the point the pressure was making me take vicodin, which I never do. I was glad to have it though. Any way, I had the cal/mag infusion and I think it helped the cold…

It has been over a week since I last read a post from him. In it he mentioned having taken his daughter to Vanderbilt the previous Friday. His post was very introspective. I am concerned.

onc visit
Just got back from a visit with my oncologist. It would be a follow up from the colonoscopy and the PET I had done a month ago. The lesion at the rectal junction tested positive for cancer, so I will be meeting with a radio on the 30th. We are expecting treatments to help with the pain. I got a new longer lasting pain…

What part is the worst????
Ok so I am wondering if anyone knows if there is a better place to have the cancer in your colon. I mean I know that the colon has more than one section and I was wondering if it's better for it to be in one section than the other as far as survival effects. Bobby

For Canadians, and others outside the US....Christmas cards...
If you would like to send cards to everyone in the US, but are a bit put off by the $1 price per piece... I am offering to play 'North Pole Post office'.... Postage per piece in the US, for a standard sized card, is .44. If you could find out how much one box with all 70-or-so cards in it would cost to send to me (I have…

I hope all goes especially well and, fingers crossed, he might be able to get you into the PRI724 trial or at least one of the others they are starting at USC. I will say another prayer before I leave this morning just to make sure I get an extra one in for you. I'm getting ready…

I just gave myself my first Neulasta shot!
Probably not a big deal for most of you. But I have been through 12 rounds of Folfox and 12 of Folfiri and never had to do this. I always got the pump nurse to give me my shot. But I did it on my own today!! I am proud of myself! Catherine

MRI Tomorrow afternoon..UPDATE
Just to let Y'all know...went to onc today for 3 month check-up. I have been having a horribly painful lower back for the past 3 weeks and was trying to treat it as a pulled muscle. Nada! Finally figured out it wasn't. My onc *thinks* it might be a ruptured disc and if so, will refer me to her *back* doctor. She told me…

And then, after many minutes of banging...silence....then the voice of the tech comes on and says "Now I need to reboot the computer, it has developed a glitch...just lie still…

Is Xeloda the only chemo by mouth used to bridge from FOLFOX (or any other systemic chemo) to surgery? My husband was on xeloda during radiation and the leisons in his liver grew, just completed FOLFOX and one treatment of avastin alone (was preparing for surgery) was on xeloda, the leisons grew. Has anyone tried any other…

6 years ago, this week.....
The day after Thanksgiving, to be exact.... I was told those 3 words, and told I had about 6 months to live. "Get your affairs in order", "Say goodbye to your loved ones"...all of that.... Not only did I survive that first cancer (rectal) but, at 6 months, started treatment for the second (breast) that they had found to…
