onc visit
Just got back from a visit with my oncologist. It would be a follow up from the colonoscopy and the PET I had done a month ago. The lesion at the rectal junction tested positive for cancer, so I will be meeting with a radio on the 30th. We are expecting treatments to help with the pain. I got a new longer lasting pain…

What part is the worst????
Ok so I am wondering if anyone knows if there is a better place to have the cancer in your colon. I mean I know that the colon has more than one section and I was wondering if it's better for it to be in one section than the other as far as survival effects. Bobby

For Canadians, and others outside the US....Christmas cards...
If you would like to send cards to everyone in the US, but are a bit put off by the $1 price per piece... I am offering to play 'North Pole Post office'.... Postage per piece in the US, for a standard sized card, is .44. If you could find out how much one box with all 70-or-so cards in it would cost to send to me (I have…

Grateful that chemo has been kind to me lately and feeling good. I'm not a regular poster but read them often. I have to admitt I spend more time in chat.…

I will say another prayer before I leave this morning just to make sure I get an extra one in for you. I'm getting ready…

I just gave myself my first Neulasta shot!
Probably not a big deal for most of you. But I have been through 12 rounds of Folfox and 12 of Folfiri and never had to do this. I always got the pump nurse to give me my shot. But I did it on my own today!! I am proud of myself! Catherine

MRI Tomorrow afternoon..UPDATE
Just to let Y'all know...went to onc today for 3 month check-up. I have been having a horribly painful lower back for the past 3 weeks and was trying to treat it as a pulled muscle. Nada! Finally figured out it wasn't. My onc *thinks* it might be a ruptured disc and if so, will refer me to her *back* doctor. She told me…

My husband was on xeloda during radiation and the leisons in his liver grew, just completed FOLFOX and one treatment of avastin alone (was preparing for surgery) was on xeloda, the leisons grew. Has anyone tried any other…

6 years ago, this week.....
The day after Thanksgiving, to be exact.... I was told those 3 words, and told I had about 6 months to live. "Get your affairs in order", "Say goodbye to your loved ones"...all of that.... Not only did I survive that first cancer (rectal) but, at 6 months, started treatment for the second (breast) that they had found to…

RFA or SURGERY.
Today had an informal meeting with my docs - surgeon , onc, radio oncologist- . Different theories for my small liver met, some of them suggest surgery ,surgeon and radio oncologist, and the oncologist says RFA would be more appropriate as is less aggressive and as I got affected some distant lymph nodes he can't guarantee…

Hi Erin, You are in the right place...but I did have to look up cecum as it hadn't crossed my medical vocab before. I was going to reply to your post in Roger's thread on Disney, but was afraid it would get lost there. Lots of folks here with humor, sensitivity and knowledge...and willing to share with everyone. All-inclusive resort again, but it sure ain't Mexico... UPDATED
UPDATED SUNDAY NIGHT I have great news! I didn't realize this is the same vein that my port is in. I was sent down for an ultrasound and it turns out this is actually a big blood clot right next to where my port enters the vein. My echocardiogram had some issues, but those are consistent with having a clot in this vein. It…

Test results are in - not good
Last week George has his CT and PET scan. Saw the onc today and the news is not good. There is progression both in the lungs and liver. George did Folfox last year with very good results, went on to 5FU and Avastin for the last 40 plus weeks but I guess it just stopped working. No progression to bone, brain or anything…

No cancer in the lungs!! B-12 info
My X-Ray came back fine. My thyroid is fine. I'm very high on B-12 vitamin (always had too much energy), I am asking the doc about this on my next appt. It appears I should be in the mid 100s and I'm in the mid 900s. I did get that B-12 injection while on vacation. I thought excess B-12 went in your urine, because it water…
