Today had an informal meeting with my docs - surgeon , onc, radio oncologist- . Different theories for my small liver met, some of them suggest surgery ,surgeon and radio oncologist, and the oncologist says RFA would be more appropriate as is less aggressive and as I got affected some distant lymph nodes he can't guarantee…

Hi Erin, You are in the right place...but I did have to look up cecum as it hadn't crossed my medical vocab before. I was going to reply to your post in Roger's thread on Disney, but was afraid it would get lost there. Lots of folks here with humor, sensitivity and knowledge...and willing to share with everyone. Welcome…

All-inclusive resort again, but it sure ain't Mexico... UPDATED
UPDATED SUNDAY NIGHT I have great news! I didn't realize this is the same vein that my port is in. I was sent down for an ultrasound and it turns out this is actually a big blood clot right next to where my port enters the vein. My echocardiogram had some issues, but those are consistent with having a clot in this vein. It…

Test results are in - not good
Last week George has his CT and PET scan. Saw the onc today and the news is not good. There is progression both in the lungs and liver. George did Folfox last year with very good results, went on to 5FU and Avastin for the last 40 plus weeks but I guess it just stopped working. No progression to bone, brain or anything…

No cancer in the lungs!! B-12 info
My X-Ray came back fine. My thyroid is fine. I'm very high on B-12 vitamin (always had too much energy), I am asking the doc about this on my next appt. It appears I should be in the mid 100s and I'm in the mid 900s. I did get that B-12 injection while on vacation. I thought excess B-12 went in your urine, because it water…

More good news today, despite the problem of the bloody radio machine ( broken).

Today I had my results from this morning labs. CEA dropped to normal levels 4! and no Folfiri on the last 3 weeks as I'm on radio! Not bad news! Hugs!

3 years ago I was told that I had colon cancer. I used that as part of my message during the "sharing with the children" time at church. Talked about how facing that has made me realize what is important and what I have to be thankful for. A big part of what I have to be thankful for is all the friendship and advice and…

Will my butt remember what to do???
I got a reconnection date. Friday Dec 3rd my super doc will reconnect my **** and I can get this damn bag off my belly. This morning, with my head now clear for contemplation, it came to me that as we age we forget how to do things if we don’t do them every day. By the time I get reconnected, it will be 100 days that I did…

How to express my feelings
I love you all, let me say that first above all else. It's just that two have passed away this week, many more in my same shape (my same shape a couple of months ago) and others are still waiting for the possibilities of surgeries. Here I am, getting my surgeries. I've been to Stanford many times over the past month, the…

Done with radiation!
Finished up my 6 weeks today. Now I get a break through the holidays, scan in January then 5fu/avastin again. Last scan in September showed only one small uptake, and the cea has dropped to 1.5. I bought a used Mercedes Cabriolet to enjoy the southern California weather, and I am still fat, with a full head of hair (my…

I escaped around 2PM. Got new tennis shoes for my husband (his were falling apart and didn't smell too nice - I refused to travel with him and those shoes). Picked up prescriptions. I have all my bookwork done. Checks printed. We had our head shaving party and both of my boys and my husband went first. Four bald heads now!…

The only thing missing in your picture is your magical wand. I have such a thing. My husband bought lemonade from some children down the street, and they had one "magical wand" left. My husband paid the dollar for this magical wand, it's made of glue and paper. He presented it to me with flourish and the wish, that it…

The Xmas Spirit?!!!
My mother is in the middle of chemo. She actually has 3 treatments left. Happily she has had enough energy to decorate the entire house for Xmas, with a little help. I was expecting some side effects by this time, but she decorated and put up 3 Xmas trees and has gotten the Smithfield ham. As her daughter, I want to tell…
