Something worth looking into
As I was reading about cancer, I came across this interesting new drug being tested that evidently has the potential to put oncology centers around the country out of business. http://www.thedcasite.com/ You may have already heard about it, you may have not, but I think it's at least worth snooping around.

Hi Guys!
I just thought I'd post an update. My brother is on Vectibix every other week. He has the yucky rash on his face. The doctor has given him creme to help control it. If it gets worse they will put him on Minocycline. He's feeling okay, just a little tired which is to be expected. I saw his CEA and it is down to 97.2 from…

Darn beast tried twice, but also lost twice.....I'm still alive and kickin!
Hello, all!!! I just 'celebrated' 11 years since my stage III rectal cancer diagnosis. What's so special, you are wondering? Well, I was told all that long ago that I had "about 6 months to get my affairs in order". Fooled THEM....at 6 months, I was starting treatment for my second cancer, stage II breast cancer! Life sure…

Damn, radiation again
Well, I got a week of telling everybody I was NED and feeling happy. I went to my oncologist today and she wants me to have the lung spots radiated. In case it is cancer even thought they haven't grown. She's concerned that if they do start growing and are cancerous they could start spilling cancer cells in my body. So I'm…

I find this a little frightening - Warning: A little gruesome
I was reading an article in the BBC News online, unrelated to Cancer (if your interested http://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-34920068), and it mentions that many bodies of people who have been on Chemotherapy, do not decompose as fast as regular bodies. Think Twinkie. I don't know if I care to find out exactly what went into…

need advice on problems healing from APR and colostomy
In April I was diagnosed with T1 rectal cancer 1/2 cm from anal verge. Had a transanal resection and path report came back as a T2 tumor and margins clean. I was advised by 4 docs to have an APR surgery and permanent colostomy. I had that surgery in June (T3 N0 M0). All went well, but I am having trouble healing from the…

Grand Canyon and Cancer
We just got back from a trip to Las Vegas. While there we took a day and went up to the Grand Canyon. I have been there a few times, but not in the last few years. Not since my first cancer diagnosis a little over 4 years ago. As we stood at the top, the snow at our feet, nothing but silence and the wind in the trees, I…

46 yrs diagnosed with Colon Cancer with Liver Metastases
Hi, A new bee here. I was diagnosed with Colon Cancer about a month ago. Saw blood in stool, went to a Gastro who in turn did a colonoscopy to discover a tumor in the colon. I had subsequent CT / PET Scan that confirmed the disease and looks like they did not see anything else in the PET scan which is good. It was in total…

Thinksgiving week has arrived. A time to ponder all of the things we have been blessed with and are grateful for. I would love it if those of you in America would share their Thanksgiving plans, and those who live outside, well, you can share as well. We've all got things we are grateful for. Sue - Trubrit P.S. Update
I have not posted here for some time. In June I had a colon resection and HAI pump implant at MSK. My first scan since starting on the pump chemo (8 weeks) showed a 10% shrinkage in the liver tumors. I am trying to get enough shrinkage to get to liver resection, I don't know how much that is... I feel good other than chemo…

janderson scan results
Well today was the day that I feared for a long, long time. I saw my onc. The scan was not good to say the least. I have 12 new nodules in my lungs. a spot on my spleen. A spot on my abdominal wall. it appears that there might be more tumor hidden behind what they took out of my chest wall back in September. The spot on my…

NED
It's official. I am NED. I've prayed every night about it and prayed with gratitude when I found out. The lung spots haven't changed and likely have nothing to do with the colon cancer. They also discovered I have an old compression fracture in my back but that's another story. I am so grateful and relieved. After all the…

Lightheaded ??
The one constant symptom my husband has with his folfox6 with avastin treatment is he is always lightheaded when he is up walking around. The onc. tells him to drink more fluids, but he drinks at least at least 5 - 6 12 oz bottles of water a day. Does anyone else have this problem and what solutions have you tried? Thanks,…

If you want a good ahhhh cancer you still haunt me laugh
So I have a permanent ostomy and I had a serious "explosion" at work. It's a big office, 18 floors. I ran up one floor and used the bathroom there because it is private and has a sink and shower. I quietly went up the back steps, got in, washed everything, slipped back out and was back at my desk without anyone knowing.…

Seeking answers for my dad
Hello, I am out and about trying to find answers to my dad questions. A month ago we took him to the ER, they found a tumor blocking his colon. He was admitted, had a biopsy and emergency surgery to have the tumor, lymph nodes, part of his small intestine and apart of his abdomen removed. Surgery was a sucess, he was in…

How comfortable are you talking about your illness?
When I was diagnosed I needed some time to tell my loved ones the situation. As I'm going through the mental and physical healing process I find it easier and easier to talk about my illness at work or with strangers. To me it's a fine line between showing people that even when you have or had cancer you could be well and…

Husband's CT Scan, still unclear
I know most people would be relieved by these results but I am just not, I try so hard to be positive but I am not getting a definitive answer. His CEA which has been a good indicator for him in the past went from 1.34, 2.24, 4.88. The ins refused a pet scan and only allowed a CT Scan which showed his fluid accumulation on…

In about 2 Weeks, I see the Oncologist. I am lousy at knowing what questions to ask
What questions did you wish you ask? What questions did you ask? I don't care if they turned out to be dumb questions. I just don't want to stand there like a deer in the headlights (by the way, drive carefully, everyone. It's that timed yeah) Chemo is, I understand, a foregone conclusion. It will cause my immune system to…

Off Topic: Patch of Ringworm under son's arm
anyone have any experience how to clear this up? Dermatologist confirmed ringworm and suggested drug store cream anti-fungal. It has been four weeks of day and night application with no clearing. I am freaked by this and have been washing everything obsessively because I don't want to get it!

Any former Chantix users
This may just be a huge coincidence but a friend of mine asked me the other day how long ago it was that I took Chantix to stop smoking, about a 1 1/2 yrs now, and he told me that I was the 5th person he knows that developed some form of cancer within 2 yrs of stopping Chantix. Was wondering if anyone has noticed this…

9 Months From Surgery And A Clean Scan
Had scan results yesterday, surgery anniversary today. So far so good, though there is one iffy thing in lungs that seemed to be reduced in size. Oncologist thinks it is not cancer though. Items in liver and kidneys just look like general things, cysts and whatnot. So nine months NED I guess....

Need help, support and advice
The good news is that Dennis was able to get his first chemo last week... that his platelets seem to be cooperating more now.The bad news is that they did a scan and saw something in the peritoneal nodes (*spelling) to add to the liver and lung tumors. Does anyone have any advice or experience they could share as for the…

Facial Rash from Irinotecan & Cetuximab
I just started treatment for CRC with Irinotecan & Cetuximab. I have broken out in the most horrible rash all over my face. I can't believe my doctor would put me through this. Not only is it hideous, it's painful. It's definitely affecting my QOL ...I can't leave the house. Have others experienced this? How long does it…

Sir-Spheres (Y-90) procedure...anyone have it?
In about 10 days I'll be having the SIR-Spheres procedure on my liver tumor. Many months of chemo (FOLFOX, FOLFIRI plus Avastin) have not seen much shrinkage. They say this mircorpheres procedure will put radiation directly on the tumor and it will start to shrink and continue to do so over several months. Then they say, I…
