Hello everyone.  You guys gave me some good advice when I was diagnosed in October 2015

I had one foot of my colon and rectum removed on 18nov15.  Today I was discharged with a Foley's catheter.  I should get pathology on my

Lymph nodes tomorrow.  Surgeon still thinks we caught early with to spread.  My question is if results show no node involvment has anyone ubdergone chemo anyway.  Thanks for all the support and guidance I have found on this forum.

    Good luck!

I wish you all the luck for tomorrows path results. And pray you bounce right back to good health now that the Cancer has been removed.

I can't answer your question as I did have node involvment.  Sometimes it depends on your Oncologist and how he likes to treat his patients.

Keep us informed. We're invested in you now Smile.

A friend of mine had his

A friend of mine had his tumor removed in the colon around a year ago.  The Drs thought that they got it all and he decided not to have any chemo.  This week he found out it had spread to his liver.  Cancer sure can trick you!

    Dear Friend,

I had radiation chemo, surgery chemo for stage 2 rectal cancer with no lymph node involvement. I was not given chemo as an option, so I didn't have to choose. What I know today I personally choose to have it for simply one reason: should I have a recurrence I want to feel that I have done everything I could to prevent it.

Good luck with your decision and wish you a speedy recovery.

    Tumor Board

Just spoke with my oncologist medical assistant.  She said my surgeon will be calling me after discussion in tumor board.  Now more waiting and worry.

    similar

stage IIIc diagnosed late August (T4aN2bM0 - pretty much as close to 4 as you can be).  Now doing chemo - sitting in the chair as we speak doing my 5th treatment.  The treatments continue to get worse for me.  I hate them.  I feel out of commission for a week, but life goes on and I work and take care of my kids despite feeling awful.

I assume I'll have a PET/CT scan in March/April after chemo and then one again in August.  At least that's what I want.

    chemo after resection

My oncologist wanted more chemo after resection.  Surgeon said not necessary since no lymph nodes involved.  So I went with no addt'l chemo.  Colonoscopies 1 and 3 years later showed NED.  So go figure! We are all different. Good luck to you no matter what you decide.

    Disappointed

Just got off phone with my surgeon.  Jumped from hopeful stage 1 to stage 3c.  So frustrated.  Now to come up with a better game plan to beat this.

    So Sorry

that you didn't get the results you had hoped for.  Whatever game plan you and your doctors come up with to tackle this I hope it has the desired effect with minimal problems for you. Be sure to write down all the questions you come up with to ask your docs- and remember to take them with you.  It is so easy to forget them once you're actually talking to and listening to the doctor.

    Good luck.

    Sorry

About the bump to 3C.  I am 3C also.  I had heavy lymph node involvement and tumor grew into abdominal lining.  My Oncologist said that he is pretty confident, based on my general health and surgical report, I can beat this.  Had 6 months of FOLXFOX.  This is a roller coaster, but hang in there and hang out here.  There are many who can help with what they have gone through.
