BRCA
just received news from my genetic testing, and I'm BRCA2. This was a total surprise because no one on either side of my family has ever has Breast cancer going back all the way to my great grandparents. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this happen. Could the mutation originated with me? Like am I "patient zero" for…

Starting Treatment
I'm going to start chemo next week. AC. I have 2 malignant tumors & 1 benign in my RT breast. I am pos, pos, neg. The tumors are sort of large so they are doing chemo first, then Taxol, then surgery & radiation. When we made the plan the 3rd tumor hadn't been biopsied yet. Now I wonder since it turned out to be malignant if…

Any tips for buying wigs/chemo caps?
Hi all, I am gearing up for chemo and am trying to do a little shopping ahead of time. I have searched all of the websites and have some questions. I have always gotten a headache after wearing even a headband or cap for even a few hours so I don't want anything too tight. What are some brands of wigs and caps that you…

Free Scarf Offer
While going through my pile of pamphlets yesterday from my cancer center, I came across this free scarf offer, thought it was local but turns out it's national. I called the 888 number and the lady was so nice and gave me their web site, and my scarf is on its way. http://www.goodwishesscarves.org/request-a-wrap/

It may be a recurrence
Hello, I am from the uterine board but have been reading the post lately on this board as my closest friend, a sister to me really, may be facing breast cancer again. She was diagnosed in Sept, 2011, with bilateral breast cancer. What a nightmare that was! She first had biopsy surgery which showed that she had a grade 1…

clothing
Does anyone know of an online site with clothing made specifically for women who have had mastectomies? Many of the regular summer clothes are cut too low in the front, and forget the bathing suits. I have found some treasures in the TLC catalogue, and noticed that this year, they have a sleeveless tank top in 3 colors…

Some on topic Some off topic
Most of my replies have been sporadic at best but I do read all the posts and my thoughts are always with all of you. There are so many newbies (hate that they have to be here) and many are in big battles and some have lost their battles. But whether it is an early catch with good prognosis or an advanced cancer with lots…

Whew, whew, whew. Stromal fibrosis. And focal microcalcifications. Neither of which have I had a chance to look up yet because I've been so busy letting people know I'm okay. The doctor's nurse couldn't tell me much because the doctor is out of town and I guess she's not supposed to, so she sorta talked in code about my…

Femara Joint Pain
I have been on Femara now for about 6 months. The main problem I'm having with it is moderate to severe joint pain in my fingers and feet. I am 50, hobbling around like I'm 80. Femara is still better than Tamoxifan, which almost killed me via horrible hot flashes and weight gain. I've been taking Glucosimine for the pain,…

Has anyone been to an ACS Bark for Life event?
Wondering if anyone has ever been to one of the ACS' Bark for Life events? Bark for Life is a fundraising event open to all canine companions (and their owners), and it looks like a lot of fun: a 1-mile walk, music and food, vendors -- and every dog gets his/her own Bark for Life bandana! (I'm a sucker for swag, even if…

Femara side effects?
Hi, I've been on Femara for about 2 1/2 months. My shoulders, knees, wrists and hands are very painful. I've had a few weeks off (school is out for me right now) and I'm sleeping 12-18 hours a day. How do you handle these femara side effects? Ibuprofen seems to help the pain, but I have to keep taking it (and taking it) I…
