He said that it was caused by my negativity , and I didn't even notice I was becoming more negative. I know the drugs are…

A small victory for my head
I had my first chemo (Taxotere/Cytoxan) almost 3 weeks ago. Around 12 days afterwards, I started to notice a little hair falling; by day 16, it was coming out in clumps in my hand. My hair was already very short -- but, when I started finding (my own) hair in my food when I ate, I decided enough was enough. So, this past…

Day 27, 28 & 29 and 2nd & 3rd & 4th Booster of Sue's Rads
I am reallyyyyyyyyy tired. I don't know why this has hit me so hard so quickly. But, it has. I guess these boosters do take more of your energy, plus, I have already had 27 of the regular rads. I will be so glad to be done with them, even though, I will miss the people there. I think that is what keeps me going partly. I…

I thank you all for your good thoughts. Now I can continue to focus on my mom's uterine cancer treatment. All of you will be in…

A Man's view of Women Drivers!!
Hope this is not too naughty for this board. My 'man' cousin sent it to me. This morning on the Interstate, I looked over to my left and there was a Woman In a brand new Cadillac doing 75 mph with her face up next to her rear view mirror putting on her eyeliner. I looked away for a couple seconds and when I looked back she…

Am I a Cancer Patient? or A Cancer Survivor?
That sounds like a stupid question. But I was diagnosed in October of 2003. Wow! 6 years ago! I had surgery, chemo, radiation and finished the last of my chemo in July 2004. I took Tamoxifen for 5 years. April was my last month of the Tamoxifen. The oncologist wants me to take Femara for 5 years, but I am waiting till…

Surgery on Monday!
I go in for my lumpectomy on Monday. Hoping for clear margins and clean lymph nodes (the lymph nodes looked good on the ultrasound so I'm thinking positive)! Next steps will be radiation and Hormone Therapy, with possible chemo based on what they find on Monday. I will meet with my medical oncologist after the surgery, so…

Surgery is Done!
Well, I had the surgery on Tuesday and the surgeon told me he removed the whole lump and while it didn't look like a cyst, it didn't look cancerous either. He said we will just have to wait for the biopsy. So now I have two scarred ta ta's! I'm back at work, but keep nodding off, so I guess the anesthesia isn't quite…

SIPPING VODKA
A new priest at his first mass was so nervous he could hardly speak. After mass he asked the monsignor how he had done. The monsignor replied, 'When I am worried about getting nervous on the pulpit, I put a glass of vodka next to the water glass. If I start to get nervous, I take a sip.' So next Sunday he took the…

not new to the boards, just new here, asking for a friend.
Good morning ladies. I'm not new to the boards, have been hanging around at the colorectal site, just finished chemo in May. I have a friend who was dx'd last month with bc. She had her lumpectomy 2 days ago, it took longer than they expected, and they took lymph nodes from under the armpits and neck, said they found more…

1'st day of chemo - Made It
I will call 10/6/09 an 'Uneventful - Eventful" day in my life. Fear of the unkown could have taken over, but I prayed all the way to the cancer center, and found an angel to sit next to by the name of Mary. She was an inspiration, and after seeing how nonchalant she was handling her treatment, I simply relaxed and mirrored…

Chemo Side affects
I've had my first chemo treatment (Carboplatin, Taxol and Herceptin). I guess as side affects go, mine have not been horrible, though I got nauseous 24 hrs after and felt pretty horrible until about the 6th day. (Seems like the Anti-Nausea drugs are really just anti-vomiting.) Now I seem to feel more like myself. Seems…

Taxotere and Taxol questions
Hi, everyone. I'm new here, and have a few questions about Taxotere and Taxol. Are there any tests out there that assess the effectiveness of Taxotere or Taxol on a tumor? I know that the two drugs keep cells from dividing, and I've read that the presence of too much class III beta tubulin in cancer cells is supposed to be…

First chemo for me, too
Monday was the first for me taking cytoxan and taxotere. Also on steriods and luenasta shot. Today, the day after, my stomach is in knots, but tolerable, comes in waves. The nurse said I'll feel more effects the 2nd and 3rd day after, now I'm worried about that luenasta shot causing me pain like a "mack truck" hitting me.…

Hello everyone, I've been on the tamoxifen for about 2 weeks now and I'm doing OK so far - just more hot flashes and maybe a little more tired than usual. From reading all the posts here, I found out you can find out if you metabolize the drug or not. I'd sure like to know as there are alot of possible side effects. My…
