Survivors Kick Up their Heels
Check out these survivors dancing to I Will Survive in a Flash Mob! We did this dance during a survivor party at my hospital in December, and we planned it ahead with the dancers but the other people there didn't know what was happening. The two women up front are one of the physician's medical assistants and an OR nurse;…

More Ha Ha's - If Men Ruled The World
If Men Ruled the World... Any fake phone number a girl gave you would automatically forward your call to her real number. Nodding and looking at your watch would be deemed an acceptable response to "I love you." Hallmark would make "Sorry, what was your name again?" cards. When your girlfriend really needed to talk to you…

This is an update to my "Prayers Needed - Not BC related" thread from last week. I wanted to let you know that I had a very good conversation with my boss, Roxanne, about how their family is doing after the tragic loss of her niece and grand-niece a few days before Christmas. She wanted to extend her thanks for all of the…

Not BC related
OK friends - I've been away for a bit. I fell down a hole over winter break...I'm not sure why. Today I handed in an application for a newly vacated position in my district. It's a real long shot, because I'm not entirely qualified for it, but it is what I love doing best - teaching struggling readers! Your warm thoughts…

Reconstruction Surgery With Implants Thursday… any advise?
I will be having my implants put in on Thursday… finally getting these awful tissue expanders out after one year of treatment. Do you ladies have any helpful tips or advise that will make this as easy as possible? Also, how long is the recovery? I had a bilateral mastectomy and it was weeks before I could do much of…

Arimidex
Can anyone give some information of the drug Arimidex? My oncologist wants me to take it for the next 5 years. I went to the Arimidex website and the side effects look terrible. Also, my concern is that I have rheumatoid arthritis and already take methotrexate which has similar side effects. Any insight is appreciated.…

Hmmmmm...I wonder if we could get our medical bills paid this way too!
A man suffered a serious heart attack and had open heart bypass surgery. He awakened from the surgery to find himself in the care of nuns at the Cabrini Catholic Hospital. As he was recovering, a nun asked him questions regarding how he was going to pay for his treatment. She asked if he had health insurance. He replied,…

A few giggles....I couldn't resist passing them on....
Those who jump off a bridge in Paris are in Seine. A man's home is his castle, in a manor of speaking. Dijon vu - the same mustard as before. Practice safe eating - always use condiments. Shotgun wedding - A case of wife or death. A hangover is the wrath of grapes. Does the name Pavlov ring a bell? Condoms should be used…

Leg Pain
I just finished taxol in November. Still doing Herceptin every 3 weeks. Not on Tamoxifen yet. For the last month or so my legs hurt so bad at night. Even pain meds have not helped all that much. Pain can be in both legs or just one leg or calf. I have taken hot baths, which helps a little bit. Sometimes when I am even…

Hair Loss
I was just wondering, once the hair starts falling out, how long does it take for it to be all gone? Yesterday my hair was coming out one or 2 strands at a time but today it's more like 10 every time I comb, brush or just rake my fingers through it. My hair is baby fine and has never been thick. Just wondered what…

Bilateral mastectomy tomorrow -- now I'm getting scared.
I know this is the right decision for me. I will be having bilateral mastectomy with immediate reconstruction using free TRAM flap procedure. But the last couple of days I have been very nervous, and today I feel like things are racing inside my body. I know it will end up okay, but I wish this day would go by quickly.

Anyone heard of the Sancuso patch for side effects of chemo?
I just happened upon it while searching the web. I wonder if it works as well as their ad seems to say. Has anyone tried it? Too late for me, but maybe it could help someone else out there. http://www.sancuso.com/pat/sancuso/comfort.html

Oncotype DX Test
I was supposed to start radiation on 12/21. I'd had my body mapped and was prepared to start treatment. That morning, I had an appt. with my oncologist who asked if I had the results of the Oncotype DX test? I'd never heard of it. She called my surgeon oncologist (who happens to be her husband). He hadn't requested the…

anyone have stage 2 w/positive lymph node w/"extrusion"?
I can't seem to find out what it means for possible recurrance, to have a lymph node with extrusion, where cells are on the outside of the node. I had 2 involved nodes, one with this extrusion issue. Just had a bilateral with tissue expanders (that's another story altogether!) but of course am wondering about the future.…

Whether you believe in a higher power or not, there is substance to the "message" that is sent in the parable: The Gardner and the Rose THINKING LIKE A ROSE Every good parable has a message, and this one is no exception. Too much snow
Too much snow here. I can't open my doors to get outside so I'll have to go out a window in order to shovel off the porches so I can come back in through the door. Looks like the majority of the 2+ feet of snow that we got this weekend fell during the night. Heck only knows when I will be plowed out. My snowplow guy works…
