Hello all! I've spent the last hour reading all your posts and decided to join in. We are all sisters in cancer and I know the value of sticking together and supporting each other!! I'm 67, retired from the business world 2 years ago, and the grandmother of 5. I found my lump by accident on March 28th while showering. Had…

So, I was minding my own business ( sure, I was!) watching TV, when an ad came on for the Make Strides Against Cancer walk...turns out it is Tomorrow, and only 3 miles from where I live! So, yeah, Reggie and I promptly signed up online and we'll be walking for all of the Kindred Spirits tomorrow at 9AM. This is my 2nd 5K…

I was asked when I plan to retire!!
Maybe it was just a bad day, maybe I looked unusually tired today. They all know about the BC and bilateral, but no one ever talks about it. But today, a boss directly asked me when I plan to retire. You know, it is too early for me to retire, my evaluation was perfect, and I feel like I do a good job. Maybe it was a kind…

1 Down 32 To Go
Well I had my first rad treatment yesterday. Wasn't to bad. I did get nauseated, got a little headache and was just a little tired but am better this morning. Hoping it was just nerves and stress from worry about what it would be like. I am getting IMRT and it takes about 10 minutes for my sessions. The prep time takes…

3 weeks post op from lumpectomy..is this normal?
I had a lumpectomy on 4/23/10, a little over three weeks ago. I feel like I have a huge lump inside under the scar right where the original lump was? It is still sore. But I can not stop touching it and feeling it. My Pathology report was clear with all clear margins as well as all lymph nodes were clear (stageI grade III)…

Radiation Day 1 done!
Radiation day 1 done! 32 to go. I feel like I am on my way to the finish line. I can't see it yet but I know it is there. For some reason I actually feel relieved today. Maybe it is because I was so worried about starting the radition. I know I am ready to face whatever is in store for me in the next 7 weeks. Hugs to all

Rads question...
I keep hearing different numbers of rads treatments. After my lumpectomy I was told that the breast tissue and 12 lymph nodes were clear of cancer. Should I talk to my rad onc about doing less than the 32 visits he recommended before my surgery? Why are there differences? Thanks for your input... Health and happieness to…

Does your chicken have big breasts?
Okay - so I saw my oncologist for my 3 month checkup and asked about the soy question - can I have it or not?? His comment was that some soy can actually be beneficial because it is a weak estrogen and can latch onto the cell and when the strong estrogen comes around it sees that the cell is already "full" and moves on.…

Hello: I just past my one year anniversary of being told I had BC. I was lucky! I had 38 treatments of radiation and no chemo. Best time to take Femara ?
Anyone know when its best to take Femara. Morning or evening ? With or without food ? There really weren't any instructions on the bottle except that it might cause dizziness or drowsiness. I took my first one last night, and had trouble falling asleep and then woke up feeling groggy... Probably just my imagination as I'm…

It was amazing
Last night was the wake for Carter. There was so many visitors that we stood in line for 2 1/2 hours. I could have gone straight in to the funeral home but I felt my family and I should stand with the rest. They had to extend the hours so everyone could visit. The police dept showed up as well as the fire dept and they…

Hello All, I got my results of MRI sent to home or I still would not know the results and have seen the neurologist who has been the first doctor ever that I have gotten bad vibes from.
