Tissue Expanders????
Had a skin sparing double mastectomy about three months ago. These (gas jugs) I mean tissue expanders are driving me crazy. My right side is still either bruised or something underneath the expander where the alloderm attaches to my muscle. Doc's don't seem to be worried, but i am very active and that area becomes pretty…

A Dutch treat...
Yesterday I was reminded of how small The Netherlands is...lol... Saturday morning we left home early to go to a new snufflemarkt in Enschede. Not too far drive, about an hour Southeast of us. Found some great stuff...but oddly I heard many people speaking German as well as Dutch. So, I looked at a map...only 6 kilometers…

Hi Everyone, I just wanted to give you an update on Vicki. She actually had her biopsy yesterday. She begged them to do it before the 17th and they did. Now we are waiting for the results. She probably won't find out anything until Wednesday. She is in quite a bit of pain today, but is staying positive and strong. I will…

I am gearing up for my last two rounds of chemo, after having an 8 week break for my liver to recover and for my lumpectomy. Different treatment this time. Will be having 6 weekly treatments, the first and fourth will be Taxol and Herceptin. The other 4 will be just Taxol. After I finish those, then it's Hercepting every 3…

Finally cleared for rads!!
My PET was clear and although my tumor markers are at 41, I reminded my onc that I had a sinus infection at the time the blood was taken. So he and my radiologist decided I could start my 33 rads treatment on Monday. I'm so happy to be going to the next phase of treatment. I am no longer afraid, knowing the my docs will…

couldn't believe it
I had been at work for about half an hour this morning when suddenly my boss and 2 co-workers came to my desk with flowers and small, pink, heart-shaped cakes, saying "Happy Anniversary!" For a brief moment I had no idea what they were talking about and then it hit me, one year ago today I was diagnosed with breast cancer.…

MRI with contrast-- of the chest-- yesterday
I had and MRI with contrast yesterday and they carried one set and report to my oncologist and one set (with no report) was given to me. Of course last night I looked at them, as if I could understand! BUT, I think I saw the same looking calcifications that I originally had when I was first diagnosed. Those little white…

Infusion Port Removal - In Office
Just wanted to share my recent experience regarding the removal of my infusion port. Initially, when the port was inserted, I was promised it would be removed in the same fashion that it was inserted - in the operating room with me being out. A year and some months later my surgical oncologist decided he would remove the…

When is it safe to go topless????
Hi Guys... I am just over 2 months past chemo now and have what looks almost like a "boot camp" style haircut. The population of hair is still a little thin, but I am proud of every one of those little strands. I had a discussion with my husband and told him that I am at the point where I am ready to just shed the baseball…

On my way back thru Dutch customs, I was told that I was over the amount of time I can stay in The Netherlands as an American citizen...and that I should be denied entry and deported (!!!!!!). Here we go again!
Went for my first mammogram today since my breast cancer diagnosis. They found an area on my right breast that they didn't like. WTF! The tech said it could be scar tissue from my reduction and "lift" surgeries. So they did an ultrasound. They still aren't sure, so now I have to go for a biopsy tomorrow. I can't do this…

Surgery was Tuesday...I am writing the Great (ok mediocre) American Novel!
So, I had my surgery on Tuesday morning about 9AM...my surgeon ( who I adore!!!) came in beforehand to gently tell me that the biopsy from the previous week was indeed positive for BC, but that was no surprise to any of us, was it? I am actually happy that her outpatient schedule was booked and that I had to be a…
